Urgent help required

Right...the ongoing saga of my turbo's .....have been fitted for a second time....everything put back together....and its CRAP. As it warms up so smoke gets thicker and thicker...it is actually leaking externally from the turbos!!

No pressure in the crankcase...take off the oil cap...no blow-by...nothing.

Ther turbos have already gone back once as they dumped oil in the exhausts last time.....I am convinced it is the turnbos...the garage state categorically that it IS the turbos.

Where can I have my car delivered (it can't be driven..the problem is THAT bad) ....I live near Miltin Keynes/Luton.....I hear a lot about 'Jeff'....showing my ignorance is that 'Zed world'....any suggestions/help would be greatly appreciated.

I just want to get my car back on the bloody road.....nine weeks now!!

I need to get it to a Zed specialist who will confirm that it IS the turbos

You're closer to me than I thought, I'm near your neck of the woods.

Jeff and ZedWorld is up in Birmingham mate, Tamworth I believe is Jeffs stomping ground.

SE are closer in Maldon, Essex but they aren't usually to good with urgent cases as they have enough on the go with booked in stuff!

Who's doing your car now? Please don't tell me Nelson Mandella?

I have a mechanic, hes in Reading if thats near enough for you.

Done all my 300Zx work, and is now doing my Skyline, plus any other JAP IMPORT I bring in.

He is reliable and honest, and fair prices.

If you interested email me.

Thanks to everyone that offered suggestions.......I am arranging for it to be delivered to SE Nissan ASAP.

They have said they can take it immediately...and I outlined the problem, so that know the nature of the work required. They have oodles of experience with Zeds so that swung it.

I've had some work done at Dunstable in the past but it was they who told me that they didn't want the initial job with the turbo's.

The work to date (including fitting recon. auto' box) has been done by MK engines....they appear to have done a good job. The engine (despite having been out and back in again TWICE in the last few weeks) was running beautifully....just a shame about the smokescreen!!

Do any of you have experience of these kind of turbo problems?

What I'm going to want from the 'Turbo Specialist' is a WORKING pair of recon. turbo's plus a significant contribution to the engine coming out a further TWO times than was necessary.

They are unlikely to do that unless I take legal action...which can always get messy.

Anyone had similar experiences??

I hope you get it sorted mate, nothing more frustrating than having major work done on your car and when it all goes back together it still ain't fixed!

When are they gonna pick it up?

Hopefully it will be picked up tomorrow or Thursday....hell, a few more days don't really matter now.

It would be nice to have it back in time for Billing...speaking of 'billing' (groan...sorry) it will be interesting to see if it is the turbo's...and how readily I am compensated for the extra work!

Gotta keep smiling....won't get fixed any quicker if I don't...there again, won't get fixed any quicker if I do!!

1) get your current lot (MK was it?) to write an official report on their opinion.

2) get SE Nissan to write an official report.

3) are you member of RAC, AA, any one with legal dept?

4) complain to your turbo supplier in writing - preferably with a proof of delivery - stating what you want them to do / what you want them to refund. No swearing, no shouting, just very clear and unambiguous.

5) check if they belong to any "industry" body - VBRA, SMMT whatever - then complain to them

6) Trading Standards

7) Small claims court. Needs paper work (hence get reports etc) but used to be reasonably small fee (£50 ish) for claims up to £4,500 - but this is out of date so you should recheck.

If you have been done over and you can get engineers' reports to back you up, keep pushing - you're in the right and should get something back sooner or later.

HTH - Gio

PS - oh and keep a record of your expenses: engine out twice, cost of preparing reports, £25 every time you write a letter or make a phone call - imagine you're a lawyer! Add this on to the bill which you want the at-fault supplier to pay. a) gives you something to negotiate with and b) if you every end up in small claims court, you'll get it as long as it is documented. I think.

Good advice!

Thanks Gio....I thought I was on the ball with most of it but you've definitely covered all the bases.

I don't intend to approach the turbo people until SE Nissan have had a look at it.

My worry is that I told them that the garage was of the opinion that the turbos were at fault...and would they accept responsibility for additional costs if an independent party confirmed this. They agreed to this (verbally!) but then sent the turbos back in a worse state than they were last time.

I am just concerned that they are totally incompetent....what of they are STILL shit after the next time. I'm obviously not too keen to have them do ANYTHING else!!

Of course there is always the slender chance that it ISN'T the turbo's...but, frankly I would be amazed.

Thanks again.....most useful advice.
