Going to get my windows tinted but can't deicide what to go for.

 

I was thinking about keeping the front sides ligal (barely tinted at all) would like them darker but i don't want any hassle of fines.

 

The rear side either same as front or slightly darker, the rear limo black so no one can see in my boot and the targas same as the rear side or limo.

 

What has everyone else gone for, pics very welcome :D

I have 20% all round(medium) think that is dark enough really. I live next to a police station and never get pulled. Mind you was pulled the other day and he asked if anyone else in car cos he couldnt see cos of the tinted windows, did have front 2 down at the time ;) but have advert on my car advertising tinting so prob was a bit leanient

looks good and is very safe!!! After my window shattered - the glass stayed stuck together (because of the tint) AND even whilst bombing down the M'way to SWZ...

Very nice - I like that nice "even" look of the glass all round the car (except the windscreen of course :D )

This is mine, got 35% on the front and 75% rear i think!!

 

 

i would go for the legal limit all way round, looks odd with different shades

Any tint you put on is highly likely to take you over the legal limit of tint.

As the drop glass is already tinted probably to a level not far from the maximum limit, any tint you put on top adds up and makes it illegal.

 

The law says that the side drop glass window must allow through at least 70% light, most cars come with factory tints around the 20% mark and some are around 25% tint, so in these cases you only have 5% to 10% to play with.

 

Lots of folk have been ripped of by tinting firms telling them that they are fitting legal tints of 30%, and not pointing out that the glass is already tinted.

Couple of weeks later they get issued with a ticket by the police and have to take them back off.

When I test drove my Z before buying it there were tints fitted, fookin horrendous it had just got dark and was starting to rain, I had to put the windows down to see at junctions.

 

dont know what tint it was on them but it really did make a big difference to the visibility, even Paul who Had the car agreed.

How much did that tint job cost ya? Certainly looks like a spot on job.

Mine came with a sort of dark mirror tint as standard on the read screen and the little triangular ones. It's much lighter on the door windows.

 

The dark tint of the rear screen makes the car look far better from the front than a car with a lighter tint or clear windscreen.

i drove big bens zed at the weekend and i had to put his windows down to reverse and that was around lunchtime he had limo tints all round he told me that at nightime he cant see that much :smash: but it looks very cool on a black zed

If you put a dark tint on just the rear window, it darkens the rest of the windows because of the light reduction. IMHO it's the best way of subtle tinting. and you won't look like the local drug dealer/ gangster/ pimp :D

If that's 35% i would be happy with going perhaps with 25% for more visibility and to get closer to that legal limit, think the rest will be going 75%+ then. cool beans

Yes and as already said, if you go dark in the rear it darkens the whole car so at an angle the tints on the front look the same, even though they are light.

I got a quote back £260+vat that's for all window except the very front of course and the roofs.

 

They use Llumar film.
