Watch it man!

These processors have been know to just overheat for no reason then EXPLODE!!!

Well first bits true!!! wink.gif

Hope yours works ok,thinking of going this route myself, only go to 1.8meg thou! smile.gif

My one over heats a lot, but they do shut themselves off when they get too hot.

You have to make sure that the back of the computer is well ventalated.

My computer is very full, with 333mhz memory creating a lot of heat and GeForce 2 Ultra and 7200rpm HDD doing the same, plus all my slots are taken so there is not much room for the heat to escape or even cool down. So in the end my CPU fan is just blowing hot air on a hot chip.

Did you get an AMD 2.1gig, or an AMD 2100+XP?

Stuart

Forgot to say.

Yes I had a 1gig Pentium III.

I hate Intel.

There is a nice difference between the two. Sisoft Sandra benchmarks show a huge difference. The difference I notice was on NHL 2002, with the close up of the teams on the subs bench. At 1024 with my PIII, the frame rate went down to about 15fps or so. With my new one, its really smooth and I dont notice any drop in speed.

Get yourself a "THERMALTAKE DRAGON ORB III HEAT SINK.Its got a 10,000rpm fan. Plus a tube of ARCTIC SILVER II thermal compound.

Its not acutally a 2.1 gig.

its a 1.8, but its called the 2100+XP.

I have the 2000+XP.

Dont you think you have been ripped off cos you thought it was a 2.1. It is acutall quite a bit faster than the Pentium 4 2.1.

I have 333hmz memory. It does make a difference.

So how's the MAC1 "Athlon Beast" wink.gif

My P166, 24MB RAM, 1GB HDD Compaq is ready for the knackers yard (well- it probably was 5 years ago wink.gif )

Just ordered a Athlon 2000xp, 512MB DDR RAM, GeForce 4 64MB, 120GB 7200rpm HDD system on Saturday smile.gif

Only problem is waiting the 2 weeks for it to come frown.gif

Anybody thought about a case fan. They cost about a fiver and can certainly shift a lot more air through the case. They take about 5 minutes to fit if there is a place ready for them.
