bhp loss

i was just reading one of the topics about a dyno run in which the chap had lost 65 odd bhp through the drive to the wheels is there anyway of getting less of a loss? and is the percentage of loss the same roughly for each car? am i right in thinking that 200hp is std to the wheels and 280 hp std from the engine?

With dyno's .i.e rear wheel horsepower there is a lot of variables and it is very difficult to get two same readings, even on the same day.Let alone days apart,

recently took my car to a friends rollers saw 207bhp@6400rpm(stock motor+wheels etc)@11'o'clock in the morning (dull overcast day cool temp) and then took it to a local firm about 2 miles away from first garage and saw 253bhp@6800rpm.

the only thing i did was drive it between the two!!!!!!

moral of story, just take the figures as a guide don't bet your life on them!!!

AS for your question,yes.

Blueprint your box,use thin oil(just for rolling road if nothing else, blueprint diff, same as box, thin oil,

remove grease out of rear wheel bearings and replace with lightweight grease,

replace tyres with hard type(sticky type increase friction)

pump rear tyres up to the maximum you dare(usually around 45-50 psi)reduce area in contact with rollers

I WOULDN'T RECOMEND USING ALL THIS FOR THE ROAD. SOMETHINGS, LIKE BOX +DIFF BLUEPRINT ARE GOOD THOUGH!!

Its wheel horespower that matters only anywas, so forget about engine power, thats just used to inflame the figures.

but basically from our dyno day we had last year, about 225-235 on th eback wheels was the average for stock and they said between 10-15% loss through the drivetrain.
