When I was bleeding my brakes last weekend, I was removing the rear O/S wheel and one of the studs sheared off. Firstly how easy are they to replace? and Second, is it safe to drive with 4 studs.

Easy to replace, big hammer! You can drive on it, but remember there are 5 nuts there for a reason, so don't leave it too long.

I have run on four stus for 9 months before I knew. they are very easy to change and only about two pounds to buy so well worth doing mate.

No, I just put in new studs that were 10mm longer and still did it with the hubs on mate.

doesn't the stud fit in from behind the hub and thats what keeps it in place ? never done one meself, but it is a very common breakage on a zed by all accounts so just curious ;)

thats what I was thinking mate I know on a mini the hub has to come off. I'll have a butchers at it tomorrow, anyone know what size stud I need?

If you get in contact with wheels uk they will give you a stud, as I know mike at MJP is sick so won't be able to help £45 for 20 studs that were 10mm longer.

You dont need to remove the hub, just need to remove the wheel & brake disc/caliper then just tap the broken stud with a hammer to remove it then just fit new stud.

 

also dont forget the front studs are different size to rear ones so you need to get the right one otherwise wont fit.
