Just joined the forum...Hi.

Will ask lots and lots of questions in the coming months, as I begin my search.

Will be coming from a 2003 BMW Coupe - I am tired of loosing shedloads of money due to depreciation.

I wonder if I can get a 'unbiased answer' - how does the ZX compare to the Supra (MK IV)? Why is the ZX so much cheaper?

Featured Replies

Z32 handles better than the Supra, zed is slightly less tunable and a little more expensive if you need to replace things like turbos. That's one reason why they are more pricey. Personally never really liked the look of the Supra and it has one of the most ugly dashboards known to man.

Not really an unbiased answer really. But an answer none the less. LOL

welcome fella, if your not into depriciating cars then suggest you emigrate lol, but seriously hope you find a nice example. Why are z's so cheap? whish I knew, but it doesn't matter, I think slick pete used to have a sig "beware those who know the price of everything and the value of nothing"

Z's are a drivers car, they put smiles on peoples faces simple as that

The market is filled with miserable tatty or chaved up examples which is what reflects on price overall.

People still pay good money for top notch examples. Z is also older than the Supra.

Many thanks for the quick replies.

I am thinking about non-turbo manuals. What sort of mileage can I expect in every day driving? 20-22mpg?

Welcome :)

NA manual - low to mid 20's average I'd say.

Although the 300zx did'nt end production till 2000, it came out some 3 years earlier than the Supra, and despite both cars being direct competitors to each other many see the 300zx as an older car. Most Supra's tend to be 94-96 cars, while most 300zx's are 90-93...despite later versions being available.

Im not keen on the Supra Interior, although it is well built. It has zero rear leg room and a tiny boot in comparison as well. Has better brakes too and switchable traction control (possibly TT only?).

Both cars offer quite different driving experiences. Both are near equal in all traits, but the 300zx feels like a sportier car to drive and the Supra feels more mundane IMO

I suppose it typical of the responses above and we are all Zed owners and enthusiasts. Never having driven a supra its hard to tell between the two, but the smiles that a zed gives you is generally enough incentive to enjoy what is a deserved classic
