HELLO ALL!

This forum has cost me already, but brought a smile to face... I did it, I finally did it! 300ZX all the way baby, yeah! So I've owned one of these babies years ago, but had to sell it (UK/95/LWB/AUTO/RED). I only had it for a few months but it's one of only two cars I have ever really loved owning. I said I'd be back and now I am BACK... BACK IN BLACK!!! JAP/94/LWB/AUTO/BLACK!!! So after carefully studying your forum I took the plunge on Monday, but... I was sneaky and you are all gonna hate me for this, but I hedged my bets by going halves on it with a friend! nice, huh?

I loved the zed for a simple reason, it's a pleasure to drive. I live in London, so turbo charged engines are perfect - turbo off in traffic, quick squirt on the open roads and of course 50 profiles on standard rims and auto box for the speed bumps ==> the dream is reality.

IT'S ALL YOUR FAULT

the following is a list of people responsible for the completely irrational decision that has ended up in me buying this baby;

Steve-300ZX - I will have your interior with piping and handbrake (the slickest) - not overdone - pure class - great work - all Zed's deserve this done to them AS A MINIMUM!

Jay - I am jealous, plain and simple. Want your aluminium speed dial cover and centre panel with "Z". Unique and beautiful... lot's of the kitted cars seem overdone/stuck together - this car shows it can be done with great taste and style.

flikz - (Borat voice) Very naice! I like! How much?

the guy from http://www.ameanz.com - strosek perfection... why didn't we get these cars with cream/beige/biscuit plastics? :(

strosek - hatchback with the integrated rear wing and vertical rear window might be the one for me... some day... NOT soon

NEED YOUR ADVICE, HELP & SUPPORT

I am thinking of starting a website to follow progress on our zed or maybe just use this forum as a platform, but am very open to suggestions and in a way am hoping that you will all help me make this car better... I'm a big believer in democracy and the word of the people and don't think I could have a better bunch to work with than you lot. I want this car to be a labour of love. I will listen to your thoughts and perhaps even commit to group voted options (still thinking about it). I want this car to be a 300zx.co.uk car. Not the best, or fastest, or prettiest, but a joint effort in as much as it can be.

POLL THE PEOPLE!

The order in which I am planning to sort things out follows. I want YOUR opinion on the order and the places to get things done and at what price

1. service

2. fix small things (rattle, noises, remove tape & install cd !!!!, remove jap stickers)

3. install alarm/immob (clifford 650 with total closure? anyone?)

4. get fully comp insurance (!)

5. drive for a few months and see if it breaks down a lot

6. change number plate :D

7. re-trim the interior ready for spring, also known as mating season (Oi, steve-300zx and Jay)

8. 99 spec rear , smoke side indicators and smoke side reflectors (anyone?) and paint the standard wheels anthracite dark grey metallic or just get bigger wider ones?

9. decide if I can afford to go wide, depending on price and driveability (important! never driven a wide boy. who's gonna let me have a go in one at a meet? won't thrash it... much... promise)

10. keep maintaining the car if I can afford it.

11. Sell it for peanuts to someone who is more prudent, but less passionate :p than me, the w :xxx: nker

DR SPOCK

Here is my logic. I love the way the car drives. It is, dare I say it, sensible... until you decide to floor it and it becomes... a whole lot less sensible, soooo engine modding is out for a long long time. Now brakes, I could uprate :smw: . My interior is poor and I want it to be nice to get in the pilots seat and feel as it should - a luxury sports coupe PLUS targa off for summer means they will look in ;) and of course the new car smell of leather is more to my preference than old japanese sweat in synthetics. But, and it's a big but, I don't want to shell out on an interior if the car is in bad condition. Now believe me I have checked and re-checked, but as many of you know there is really only way one finding out... Soooo, ladies (hi there  ) and gentlemen, what do you think?

Best Regards,

Born Rebel

I have a need... a need for Zeed!

P.S. I promise right now that this is going to be my longest post ever. It's just... I'm so overwhelmed with emotion right now! Zed is not dead, baby! Zed is a alive and KICKING OUT, BABY!

forgot to mention the black strosek on smithys first page - the best alloys i have ever seen. So far if I go wide I am thinking of three cars,

1. http://www.ameanz.com

2. strosek hatchback with vertical rear window and linked spoiler

3. that black smithy strosek

So far, in a perfect world: Strosek hatchback with 99 spec lights, smithys homepage black strosek alloys and interior as steve-300zx and two pieces of aluminium to cover speedo and centre console from Jay... oh, and as its in a perfect world might as well stick in a lump and drivetrain from an r35 GTR... ok, all cars with less than 200 bhp sent flying stright into the sun - ahhh, open roads and racers... and no more speed humps!

Wouldn't that be the ultimate... I'd better get back to work right now to be able to afford all of that or at least some of it :smw: .

P.S. Did anyone notice that only two girls have replied to me so far... Don't know if that's a good or bad thing ;) thank you, ladies

im not a girl its all an act lol!!

and just noticed the worlds best alloys! How much where from? what's the size? what size tyres? need to know... thanks

that mans a woman pmsl!!

First things first.

WELCOME TO THE NUT HOUSE.

First thing I had done was get the tracking sorted so that the tyres don't wear on the front inner edge.

Then it was the cam belt. If it's not been done then that should probably be the first thing along with a good service. Oil change plugs etc.

As for where to get it done, that depends on where in the country you are. We only have one garage on the forum as a trader at the moment however.

As for having a poll about upgrades etc you are best not doing it because you will get 30 different answers from 30 different people.

Post up some pics of your ride at the moment and let us all see.

You can see some nice shorties in this months club comp (see link at top of my sig) have a look and then have a vote.

There is a journal facility on the forum instead of starting your own web site if you want to go that way.

Good luck with the project.

WELCOME TO THE NUT HOUSE.

First things first. I feel as though I have been a member of the nuthouse my whole life! The car is at my local cypriot garage right now. Seems to have light play in driver side wheel due to bearing, replacing front pads. Need new rearview mirror and that plastic cover for the boot has a missing connector - want it replaced asap. removing some rattles here and there. must say I am very impressed at condition - driveability is 100% what tyres shall I put on it?also want a different auto gear lever (navan?) as on this car... can it be fitted?

Hi bud

Main ones to consider depend on what has been done to it

1, Cam belt and water pump ( do it, you dont want to replace a engine) along with new thermostat and rad cap.

2, Oil and filter every 3k miles

3, Good tyres ( I advise falkens for the price)

4, carry out ecu fault code check

there are lots of other things to do but im off to work so enjoy yourself

first service done - all new pads, all rattles gone slight squeaking to be removed  sun out in London gave it a blast - WOW! You know what I love about this baby? Not just the power but how quitely it gets there coppers don't hear me coming and by the time they realise i just sped past I'm gone! - twin turbo all the way! As I only have a tape deck installed now (!) I got a chance to listen my teenage tape compilations and it was great... Love it love it love it. So glad I bought this baby... Just keeping you posted...

Remember those dodgy mix tapes I used to make..ahh the memories lol Well, now its dodgy cd mixes ..things never change..welcome to the club and enjoy the wagon

mine is standard and bassy but quite - i do hear the turbos spin once in a while and thats i want to hear more of... tired of loud car - I want this baby o be a stealth bomber

thanks for the advice - this is exactly what I need. I just got a new oil a filter installed and oil change of course. I fried an egg on the engine oil in a sauce pan first. The egg came up perfect, not too hard, not too soft, the aftertaste was practically no existent - delicious! so i know my engine has good oil and am not worried about that at all. My stomach was well lubricated so I know my lump will be, too. :duffer: scrumptious!

The car has a badge on the engine in japanese - i think it indicates the cambelt has been changed. wll post pics later in my journal. How do i find out if i need a new water pump or if it has been fitted recently? I am getting new p zeros next week. what size should i get i have 225/50/16 on standard alloys but they are awful cheap crap (aquaplane at 50! yikes!!!) I think i want wider on the back but want to know what were standard on uk cars when they were new. Anyone know? anyone got the link for the ecu fault check code thing?
