hi everyone, having now drove my Z round for a while I have noticed a couple of things, could anyone please advise me.

1 - I sometimes get quite a loud vibration which starts at around 30 and dosent go away at any speed, sometimes its fine, any ideas?

2 - on way back from leeds yesterday I noticed the oil pressure was reading just above 0 going upto about 30 when i revved, I stopped checked the oil level which was half way between min and max, started car and still got same oil pressure readings, had some oil in car so filled it up to max mark on dipstick and hey presto, normal oil pressure readings, i.e. just under 30 cruising and on tickover, and upto 60 when accelerating, is this anything to worry about or is the dipstick just not very accurate.

Thanks

Brian

check exhaust to see if its catching anywhere underneath, plus any heat shields as they can rattle if loose. as for the oil guage, like crotchrocket says, its pants. mine reads fine when i first start it when cold, after it warms up slightly it goes down to zero and stays there.

1, rear gearbox mount or universal joint on driveshaft possibly

2, oil press gauge is crap, fit aftermarket one or new sender

and with the rear gearbox mount - watch out for sagging exhaust rubbers. If they are failing ie too long, they'll place too much weight onto the rear gearbox mount - and you'll get the vibes. Replacing the gearbox mount with a new one will solve the problem but it'll soon be back... Try to get it so that the exhaust places almost no strain on the mount.

Good luck

thanks for the advice, gives me a starting point to check, only thing is if i add aftermarket guages dont they look "stuck on" dont wanna make it look naff

If your vibration comes and goes it may be an electrical fault causing an engine misfire. Does it perform satisfactory when vibrating. Being a 6 cylnder the difference in performance may not be detectable around town.

yeah performance is spot on, and the vibration is in time with speed, i.e. if i knock it into netural the vibration is still there.
