Missing Relay

The other day, I noticed the I have a relay missing in the engine compartment. The lid to the relay box reads that it should be the 'sub fan' relay. The connectors are their for the relay.

 

What does it do, and do I really really need it?

    Ill have a guess for you, even though the 300 has a viscous fan to keep things cool, there is however an electric fan on the other side of the radiator, i assume a back up if things get to hot,i don't realy know for certain. There arn't any relays missing from my 1990 uk spec, so maybe it's best to assume you should have one anyway!!!
