Go Lewis!!!! Pole position  :D

Spoilt little brat, god knows what he will be like after winning the title this weekend he needs to have a PR man give him some help

Also IMHO I am not saying he is not a great driver and it is great for a Brit to win the title but hey if the Mclaren is excluded from the manufacturers championship how the hell can a driver win the championship driving a Mclaren

I agree with steve, to win the world championship in your first season, is an amazing achievement, but I think the guy is a little cocky, it would have been better, if he'd had to work over a few seasons for it. I blame the state of the art safety features now adays, half the fun in the sport 20 years ago was, that you could lose your life, not just the race, what an adrenaline rush.

good driver... but cant stand him.

Whatever you may think of Hamilton - or F1 in general - how many rookie drivers can go to a new circuit and get pole!! :nana2:

Remember he has beaten the past masters at their own game. So no matter what the politics are, you cant take this amazing achievement away from the lad - and it's not the first time he's done the same thing either. :p

Hmm, you make a fair point Rob.

Never said he wasn't good just he is a spoilt little arogant sod who is a little bit to big for his boots already

some of the things he says grate a little bit i.e

"monkeys at the back of the grid"

"eff off"

"swivel on this"

"I will never use dubious tatics to win a race"

"I was that near quitting"

A few of his gems

how can you say spoilt and arrogant? Someone who has worked 10 years of their life to get to that stage would hardly be spoilt and arrogant. And if someone is that good in their field, then why not

Spoilt & arrogant...possibly!!

But look at Alonso if you want a whole string of superlatives to describe spoilt, petulant, arrogant....need I go on?? :nono:

Mind you, Schumacker, Massa, and many others are all flawed in character in one way or another - it's the sport !

Why would that stop him being spoilt and arrogant?

So you agree then that he is spoilt and arrogant and that being good at something is an excuse for being the same.

All Racing drivers have an arrogance, wether it always show to the public eye or not...same for anyone at the top of there game in any field.

Im sure we all know plenty of people in our own lives who are a lot more arrogant with a lot less reasons to be so.

At ther end of the day, He's british and potentially the best in the world at his chosen sport, how many other world champions do we have at the moment???

Well in that matter they at least do seem to act like team mates as they are singing from the same hymn sheet

Come on now Rob you don't really believe F1 is a sport anymore

i only mentioned that the qualifying was on this morning lol anyway arrogant or not ( who gives a sh1t anyway ) the race is on tomorrow..Go lewis! lol :p

Good point, but next year, no traction control :nono: :hyper:

he could have done himself a few favors by being humble for a few more seasons, the man (and he is a man) comes across as being very immature, he is 22 years old not 17

given that though, I want him to win and its given some excitement back to the sport (sorry steve)

Surely the point is that he is, or will be, the best in the world at what he does. He goes out and drives a car at over 200 miles an hour which is, despite what ever safety measures are in place, very dangerous.

I believe that to become the best at anything you have to have that bit of arrogance. You have to believe that you are the best and that you will win, at all costs. Look at the way schumacher used to race against Senna, even going to the extent of running him off the circuit, all because he believed he was the best. Arrogance, yes, but isn't that what self belief is all about.

Perhaps this is the problem with sport in this country, we always like to shoot down the ones that really have it. Lets face it we don't get many of them so perhaps we should get behind them rather than try and shoot them down. Look at the way the papers chased Flintoff after winning the ashes. They got on his back about being drunk etc, lets face it he didn't get violent, smash up a hotel or the likes. He just partied hard after a great achievment.

As for how many world champions are british well lets see.

The rugby team are technically still world champions. Several rowing teams I believe as well as sailors. Is phil taylor still champion? Theres the woman that won the 400m. I think theres a fairly long list.

So rant over.

Lets get behind our sporting stars. Lets face it they have enough hardships to get where they get. Lewis Hamilton grew up in Stevenage for god sake.

Mike so do I want him to win and this season he has brought back some excitement back with him being the new kid on the block

But IMHO F1 will be back to the same old boring coverage next year when Lewis is no longer a newcommer and the tv coverage insists on showing the first few cars in the rece where as the real excitement is more in the midfield where the bulk of the close racing takes part

normaly the first few places reflect the position in Qualifying and hopefully next years restrictions make for closer racing at the front of the field

Jesus

FFS people, lets put it into perspective, he in his first professional f1 season .is at the front of the championship, he may deservedly be cocky, what do you want a humble loser or a confident cocky winner, what is it the brits have about not celebrating and recognizing success, we want our top sportsmen to behave like they do nothing out of the ordinary , when they have a bit of ego and attitude( needed in my opinion to be the best) and behave like they are talented, we knock em.

i dont like hamalton at all, he's a prat but he is the best out there and i hope he wins the championship as alonso is a :xxx:. shame shumey isn't racing this year as him and hamalton against each other would have been wicked, their the same type of racer IMO
