now im totally in the dark.

i have no lights ,the only thing i have is full beam and rear brake lights.

i have been waiting for a new relay ( dip , high) from nissan spain as i thought this would solve the problem.

no , it didnt

i have checked all the fuses that i can see and they all seem to be ok

is there any thing hidden or is this a common fault,something a can fix on my own.

this problem has been going on for about 2 months now (time waiting for nissan to finally get the right relay) so i really could do with some expert advice

deffo a fuse happened to me before

if its the relay swap it with the abs one if i remember correctly

you have checked the fuses in the footwell?

all those easily accessible fuses

the relay i fitted is a new 1,high low

You have checked all fuses under the hood and the ones in the car down by your feet?

I had the same problem and all it was, was a fuse in the drivers footwell. I shorted wires when i fitted my back lights and all i had was brake lights and full beam, changed a fuse and hey presto worked perfectly again.

Yep, re-reading some of my old posts its a relay as you said and not a fuse. The ABS relay, which i think is next to it is the exact some relay, try un-plugging it and putting in there the headlamp one should go to see if that works. If it does then you have been given a duff relay. if it dont then im a bit stuck

i have removed all the fuses from the foot well (drivers side)

tomorrow when its light i will refit all of them then try messing with the relays

i wouldnt think its the relay as that would mean both of them r ****ed

but the i could be messing with the wrong one................................

Honestly bud if its the same problem as mine (and it sounds like it is) - its a fuse.

Just a thought, is yours a left or right hand drive, ie are you checking the right side for the fuses

Make sure you test the fuse and not just do it by eye

shame you have to be 2 ft small to get to them

im 6ft and so everyone tells me a got a big head.lol

LOL, i'm 6'4 - i have the same problem, sounds stupid but its actually easier to undo 4 bolts and take the seat out. ;)

Have you fitted a head unit recently? I had a similar problem and traced it back to the stereo wiring. I think the dashboard dimmer links to the standard head unit and shop bought wiring adaptors seam to incorrectly wire the dimmer to my aftermarket stereo causing the lights to fail. Try taking your head unit out and re-checking the fuses then. this was on a JDM 1990 2+2 btw.

Aamazing how many people here have had the same problem. Happened to me too on an import 300zx NA.

 

If you pressed all the light switches at the same time it would blow the fuse every time - forget which one, think it was a 15amp. Swapped it for a 20amp and th problem went away. We decided that the aftermarket bulbs were drawing more current than the standard rating, hence continually blowing the fuse.
