I'm trying to test the starter motor off a battery and can't get it to spin only engage. It was working before the engine came out so wan't to check the connections are correct. There is the wire with the connector coming off it and the connection the ring connector is bolted to, are there any other and which one is +ive and -ive?

Featured Replies

there is a big thick wire attached directly to it for the ground. Cant remember the other connector but that will contain the +ve

The casing of the starter is ground or -. There is a big stud for the main battery + lead and a smaller connector for the signal to make it start (which is the one you have connected by the sounds of things).

Is the signal +ve or -ve?

-ve to body where it bolts to the 'box. +ve onto terminal on back and +ve to signal wire to make it run....
