Do any of you in Cornwall have experience of propshaft vibration or anything else that could cause a vibration from 30 to around 80mph on a manual 2+2 non turbo. Have tried a brand new powertrain prop but still a vibration, changed the gearbox mount, had the tyres balanced twice to no avail. Next thing may be to swop the wheels and tyres if anybody has a set I could use ?

Any suggestions welcome.

Did you change centre beraing on shaft, when you changed prop. thats what usually causes the pob.

Changed that bearing, but talking to 'Luke', it could still be the propshaft. Put up with this for two years !

He is in Rooksbridge, click on his advert and address on there :)

You could get Cornwall and Devon and transmiisions to look at it, in St.Austel somewhere Pentawan Road I think.

Had them recommended to me. Used DJ trans. in Falouth/plymouth in the end.

Your a mind reader Ray! Just got back from seeing them. Basically they are not able to help. Might take up another offer of removing everything from the the prop backwards and replacing the whole lot. You do things like this after two years !! Thanks for the help Bruce

I had a similar problem about 3 Zeds ago and dispite having the Enkei wheels balanced twice and the proshaft sorted, and rotated in case of alignment problems, it was totally cured when I bought a new set of wheels. The difference was spectacular. try and borrow a set to try. Good luck.

Jacked the car up and took the back wheels off, put the car in gear and still the vibration is through the whole car. No obvious signs of bent half shafts, so still suspect the propshaft / diff area. Probably propshaft out of balance after jouirney from USA ! Thanks for the info.

I get a slight vibration on my Blue Z when cold ever since I had the caster, camber and toe ajustment set up on the front end. It goes as soon as tyres have heat in them and the handleing is very good and Tyre ware is even.

If you need to borrow a set of wheels I have several. Tried and tested with no vibrations and all with nearly new tyres. At least you can then rule the wheels and tyres out of the equation.

Bruce, agree with Shelton, process of elimination I think.

I had similar prob for a while, not as bad as you descibe, at 70-80, was wheel balance.

some places just cant get right down here, got them done at protyre in Bristol in the end,all supersmooth now.

Can't PM you so have added to this thread. See Cornwall Mini Meet in South West Section. Might be an opportunity to meet some of the locals if you can make it.
