Please Please help! 4th oil leek in just a few months!

Just a quick question guyz.

A few months ago i had my rear main bearing seal replaced and its leeking again!

The geezer at the garage said he checked the PVC valves last time he did it and recons its gone again cos im running increased boost! Surely this cannot be true???? How can the boost effect you're seal on the crank?

Im temted to just tell him to replace the PVC's and the seal AGAIN!

What do u lot think?

A bit of advice would be really helpful!

Luke mate

What oil do you have in it??.

Cheers dave.

The only way boost could cause oil leaks is if the pressure is getting into the crankcase. A compression test might be worthwhile. I'd have expected a mechanic to have investigated further at the 2nd occasion - if you're onto the 4th then a change of mechanic would be my first remedy !

I`m with you on this Hairsy, having spoken with Luke about this I feel that like many workshop`s when the original problem happened (rear seal failure) they only addressed the symptom and not the cause, hence the problem has returned.Crankcase pressure is almost definately the problem but the cause needs investigating (breather`s etc)

He checked the PCVs and said they were ok? Just fit new ones anyway - for the price its not worth not doing! I don't see how he could remove the PCV hoses to check the valves without damaging them either!!! Change the seal again, change the pcv valves AND hoses, get a compression test done and get a new mechanic wink.gif
