I need to buy a trailer as I'm not going to insure my Zed this year £2100!, but want to be able to take it to track days / shows.

I borrowed a friends once and it was a very tight fit / messed up the rims on my SWB.

What width should I bee looking for??

Anyone know of one for sale?

Thanks,

You a best to look for a "flat bed- beaver tail " type.

Im just hiring one today to go n collect a motor.

If you go for a "Brian James" type with channels formed in metal then be aware that Zeds with wide rims do not always fit on then. Measure your overall track width and check any trailer bed before purchase.

How come your insurance is so high? Make sure you can legally tow a trailer with a zed on it, GTW would be at least getting on for 4 tonnes there!

I would have a quick look on ebay as a decent trailer will cost you almost as much as your insurance.

It is nothing to do with me howevfer so this is not a recommendation.

The other thing you have to consider is what are you towing it with? You will need something fairly hefty I would think.

Good luck with the search.

Yes! what a brilliant observation. I'm so screwed. really need to just not drive a decent car for a couple of years.

RE insurance: 39 years dumb. No No Claims Bonus, UK Drivers Licence from June of this year ( US one before that ) 6 points ON10 for driving my skyline un-insured while on a provisional ( at least my L plates were there and I had a co-pilot with a licence )

My insurance on the NSX is £2000 and can't fathom another £2000 (3Kmi) for the Zed. would rather spend £1300 on a good trailer and wait for insurance to go down in a year.... but yes... the whole crap "need a trailer licence" and probably accompanied insurance.

Man... either I stick the ZED in the Garage for a year or sell it... seems like the only option.

as you guys put it so politely FOOOOOOK!

ah dear... unless you get someone else to tow it for you ;)

But even then, the zed is a big girl, suitable trailer around 800kg's and a zed at say 1600 so you hve 2400kgs there, on an unbraked trailer is quite somthing to tow. Dirty great 4x4 teritory only sadly!

oooh... like this.... would have to get a lot of straps... to make it "look" safer.

but definitely could be a cheap option.

Wife has a 05 D4D Hilux Vigo double cab pickup for towing a horse trailer for which I am a named driver.

Eek, never thought about weight earlier mate! Thats some hefty insurance quotes. Surely you would benefit from having someone else insure the zed under their name and get a crap car with your insurance extending to driving other peoples cars, so you can drive the zed third party?

ahha, wel shes can drive then ;) lets her drag you and your zed around lol

Yes.. thanks for the help! no way I'm selling the ZED; trailer or no trailer... the older it gets the better it will get.

Get a cheap run about, insure that as your main car, then insure the Z on a classic policy ;)

And if thats your NSX, I will soon be fully comp on ANY car so can I borrow it for a weekend? :D

Thats a replica of what i used today. As the seller says superb bit of kit. Why dont you just hire one for the day like I do??

Not expensive at £30 for the day.

In reality you dont need one this big for a 300ZX. Its overkill really . Something a bit smaller would do. I have used a 15ft bed channel one before but the zed WAS VERY tight on it. Ask Emero.... it was her car on it!!!!
