Has anyone on here been or know anyone who has been done by these average speed cameras? I have heard mixed reviews on these as to whether they actually get anyone or just let you know the time to the next junction!!

Does anyone know if they work at night?

I want to hug you both for that wonderful bit of info. lol

And just in case anybody on here was'nt aware of this other fact - a GATSO camera (fixed and painted yellow) cannot get you when you drive into it, it only works when you are driving through it (so the camera ends up behind you), when you are driving to the camera it does not work - as the radar technology does not work that way.

Thanks for the intel! It says you get 3 points......does this vary if your speed is excessive or is it always a straight 3 with these cameras?

Rob.....clearly worried!!!

'Motorists are strongly advised not to seek to evade detection by unnecessarily changing lanes as this would generate a greater risk of collision and may lead to other offences being committed which the police may prosecute.

So, reading between the lines, what he's saying is "my police force would be much happier if you dis-regarded the highway code and stayed in one lane, regardless of when traffic allowed you to move left... and please don't anticipate people joining the carriageway and move right to allow them to do so safely - since both of these practices severely impact on this revenue stream..." TO55ER!

I'm unsure of that, but if it works like normal fines then it should be 3 points and 60 quid up until a certain speed and then they take you to court. Very unsure of that though - could be completely different with average speed cameras.

excellent, so their sheer desire to extort money out of the tax payer has back fired and they are infact robbing them selves of 180k a camera because the bloody things arent up to the job.

I like it, silly *******s!!

maybe they could spend the 180k improving the road network, catching violent criminals and putting drug dealers behind bars.

IMO. If you want to risk changing lanes whilst speeding, just incase they are lying (you dont know nowadays) the risk is yours to take. But its your licence they will be endorsing. My point is they are there for a reason so the best escape is to stick to the limit and smile all the way through knowing that you wont, whatever, get nicked?

On a 3 lane motorway such as the M1, where they are doing road works. There are in places only 2 specs? If what they are saying is true then how can just 2 cameras read 3 lanes? if they can then they will be able to detect a change of lane surely all the cameras will report back to the one data base?

That is true, to make ridiculous amounts of money out of what are in the majority, hard working tax payers.

Incidentally what does SPECS stand for? i thought they were called that because there were two lenses like a pair of glasses lol which caused much hilarity and piss taking from a certain someone.

Well TBH Saz Thats why I thought they were called specs too. So any hilarity can be aimed at me to (Mr Duff) I presume? LOL.

Yep! they are a very good source of income for the govenment

Hello mate hope all is well.....problem is with the mondeo st220 the acceleration is so smooth I didn't notice quite how fast I was going on on empty m25!!!!

Nothing too crazy!!

Rob

Quote from the manufactures of SPECS system. "The SPECS system is so efficient and user friendly that Manchester CTO processed 2,500 offences in 6 man-hours".

THATS WHY THEY ARE THERE 150K IN 6 HOURS!!!!!

Made by Speed Check Services - which would suggest SpeCS...

 Yes it was me

My friends works for speed camera division for essex :xxx: He is uually quite good with information about these cameras and usually i get to know where all the cameras are ( although most people can do that by internet, radio)

Nether the less if any more info is wanted/needed i will do my best to pester him about it (although as far as i know different counties vary their rules ever so slightly)

Damien

dont need any information on where they are around here, any hill in a non built up area the ****ers

lo. i had a 318is before my zed and it was a green hulking piece of **** but it did shift for what it had. Anyway i was going to romford to meet y wife in hospital and my mate warned me about a hidden camera on the A12. anyway i ignored him and ws driving about 80 ish. This 2.0 audi comes roaring up behind me and starts flashing his lights and beeping for me to go out the way. Nedles to say i didn't ingore him and sped up and smoked him. went round this blind corner doing 120MPH and when i can see past blind spot THERE IT WAS!!.... smiling at me.... it takes a few seconds for me to realise and when i did i tried to slow down as quick as possible. after crawling past camera i **** myself for the next few weeks wondering if i had been caught. Glad to say i was lucky. But i was swearing all day at how crafty it was

120 mph round a blind corner that was rather naughty, not like doing 35 in a 30 lol!!!!

yeah i know i knew i shouldnt of but the i was so much in a rush to get to the hospital.

Anyway i soon learnt my lesson after S***ing my self for a few weeks. For some reason i don't find the need to speed in a 300zx tt (odd) maybe because i want to take care of it. Don't get me wrong i pressed hard when test driving it and when i showed my mates but most of the time i will just cruise control everywhere. just for some info what is a 300zx tt auto top speed ( what ever the autobox tops out on) Mine is limited at about 120 ish

I am more than hapy to keep it limited tho as im more than happy to just get to 30 or 60, 70 quick enough rather than going at sily speeds

You wanna get it delimited, cos yours is limited to 112mph at the moment, i lived with it for a while and then i got overtaken by a fiesta or something on the motorway - so i bought a delimiter from zcenter and fitted it (only took 15 mins) and now i believe it will get to 175, however i have not yet grown big enough balls to take it to that speed, i got it to 140mph two days ago though, and it still felt fine, and fun.

Ive also heard if there is a Gatso on a duel carrigeway you cant get nicked if you drive inbetween the 2 lanes as the camera can only take a picture of 1 lane at a time, therefore only getting half the car/reg. How true this is i dont know and dont fancy trying to find out either

Me neither. lol :wack:
