Now i have seen a few posts on here saying: To get the engine out took the good part of a morning, or spent the day taking the engine out. :(

Ive just spent the second day on it and i still need to seperate gearbox and then disconnect the wireing loom and then lift the engine out. Hard graft.

Respect to you 300zx gods :duffer:

Personally,I can't see why all the fuss about how fast you can get it out!

Main thing is to take your time and label everything and do it right! :)

last time we took one out took us about 2 1/2 hours from starting to it being on the engine stand :p

then again we have done it a few times

I took my engine and gearbox out today in 1.5 hours, lifted both out together, would have done it quicker but forgot to disconnect the gear selector linkage couldn't understand why the car was lifting every time i got so far lol. Also i wasn't being careful as i'm breaking the car, before i relised about the linkage i was getting the stihl saw out to cut the front off.

No no mess why should it of? :(

Normally when you pull the convertor out of the box you leave a ltr or 2 of fluid when the box drops forward, obviously not happened so dont matter lol

The front of the car was lifed while i drained the gearbox oil. so would that be the reason? or could it be i was running low on gearbox oil? (sure it ws ok)

well draining the box would be a give away buddy :p considering you have not taken an engine out before bud hats off, just take your time putting it back in, will take longer as you want to make sure everything is tight and checked a few times

and john definatly, although you could always unbolt the convertor and reattach it back to the tranny

well done, should be my time soon is it a git of a job
