I'm having my car repsrayed in a couple of weeks and have been striping it ready. I've found some rust in the drivers rear wheelarch shown in the pic below.

Does anyone know the best way of fixing this? Is it simply a case of shaping some metal and welding it in or would I need to buy a panel to cut up? There was a nut there that the bumper attached to.

I may be able to get that sorted for you mate ;)

Cut out the rust and fabricate a repair with new metal, Nissan only sell complete panels, so you'd need to buy a rear quarter panel and inner panel.

That looks a relatively simple job, if thats the only rust think yourself lucky.

Ive got those sections still to do after already doing the front and rear quarter sections of outer sill, inner sill, and floor sections on both sides of the car as well as the nearside chassis leg. just got the offside chassis leg to do then i can get onto the rear behind the arch.

The problem you will have is finding someone to do the work, decent bodyshops only seem to want to do accident repairs on new cars, good car restorers will do a good job if you can find one but will cost you an arm and a leg, and after having a crap repair carried out at a small backstreet repair shop I wouldnt recommend that route.

If Andy knows someone who can do the job jump at the offer mate!

Question for Ossian. Looks like I am about to embark on the same journey as you with regards to sills, floor etc'. I do not know the full extent of my rust but I imagine it to be similar to yours. Would you have any photo's,sketches or books of any kind that you might be able to put my way please? I would make it worth your while, Say a pint or three. :duffer: :duffer: :duffer:

The lower section under the rear bumper attachment is available as a separate panel - £35.18 + VAT per side. The only downer is that they are only stocked in Japan so at least 3 weeks away on order...
