I am fitting a sub, amp and speakers in the boot area of my 300zx. Everything is going great except one thing. How on earth (excuse the pun) do you get the thick feed cable from the car into the engine bay???

There are no holes in the fire wall and the only way I can see it would be possible is down through the gear box bay and up under the car? I know loads of members have done this job so how did you cope please. Thanks

If you look down the side of the battery, there is an opening into the wing with some hoses going into it. Pass the wire through there. Remove rear arch liner and you'll see a rubber bung on the bulkhead. Remove that, feed the wire through. If you remove the left kick panel in the passenger footwell thats where the wire will come through. Best way is to pass a straightened coat hanger from the inside of the car out towards the bulkhead, then tape the wire to it and pull through.

Hope that makes some sense :wack: :D

Cheers,

Andy

It's a bitch to get to, but the best way would either be through the passenger footwell into the wing, then up via the battery, or you could run the cable through the grommet above the pedals in the drivers foot well.

Personally I went for the passenger wing option as I knew that once I fitted aftermarket gauges I would also run these into the engine bay, but would use the grommet in the drivers footwell as the wires are smaller.

Super Duff beat me to it. I canny type quick enough :)

Thanks lads. I have alrerady looked up behind the ECU but found nowt so that side is already still off. I will endevour to go that way. I have gone about it the wrong way really and started in the boot running all the wires and cables down each side of the car. Apparently the feed shouldnt take the same route as the jacks otherwise it could cause interference? So I will have a bash going out through the passengers sidewall.

 I...... FANK YOU!

Jack the passenger side up and remove the wheel mate. It makes it so much easier and in the long run quicker as you can then take off the arch liner and see exactly where the grommet is, cut a small X in it and poke something through, as Andy suggests a wire coat hanger is ideal, then you can tie the wire round the hanger from the inside and pull it through via the wheel arch.
