my air bag light is on in my vectra SRI if i put the ignition on it goes out for a few seconds then comes back on and i have my MOT in three weeks. i took it to a garage who had tech 2 but didnt have a clue how to use it and i cant remember what code it gave but was something about resistance. i have changed the air bag module under the centre console as the garage said it might be that any ideas

more often than not its the seat belt pre-tensioners connector. if you look under the seats you will see a twin connector plug, more than likely yellow. if you get a bad connection in either front plugs it shows a resistance fault.

IIRC, pre-tensioner is not related to the airbag system as they are mechanical. I might be wrong. Pre-tensioners can fail on those and fire. Noticable by a yellow tab which appears below the seat belt mech.

Quite often the slip rings fail. I had 2 go on my Astra. They are a wound wire coil which sits behind the steering wheel. Looks like a thin black dohnut. Tech2 is the only way to reset these even if you do replace the slip ring, the code will still be there and the airbag light will remain on.

just be fooking carefully if you do. we set the air bags off down the station sort of for fun lol, to show people just how quick they go off, And it's now you dont see it now you do.

the pre tensioners ARE part of the airbag system. ive been doing this job for the past 16 yrs and have the proper scan tool for the job. in 90% of all faults, its the pre tensioners connector.
