I have just taken out my engine which wouldn't run, found what's caused that - 1 melted piston+3 melted valves= a 2 cylinder V6

I have another engine to go and a choice of 4 turbos, the engine is going as a tempoary fix and I want to put the better tubs I have in with it while I rebuild to other 2 and the engine. How do I tell which ones are ok, I know that there needs to be as little play as possible in the shafts but is there anything else to look for?

Second question- I've noticed some oil in the exhaust port of the turbo that were in the car with the knackered engine, is this normal or could it be due to the engine problem?

Yes that would be down to having a melted piston and 3 damaged valves!
