Help!! it started last week. when i start it in the morning starts at 2000rpm, goes down to 1500rpm when warm. if i go out and start it again after 15mins goes down to about 1300rpm. Never drops down below 1000rpm. was running great for the last few months. varies sometimes on how warm it is outside. on a cold day its worse, warm day better. thought it may be afm.

Sounds like the Air regulator to me. The air regulator raises the idle by letting more air into the intake when engine is warming up. And has a little shutter inside that closes and shuts off the air once its reached a certain tempreture, if its not shutting then your getting too much air going into the inlet, and your engine will idle too high, hence why its worse on cooler days when the air is more dense than on warmer days, engines work better in denser air.

As when you get high idle when the shutter is stuck open, so you will get low uneven idle on warm up if the shutter is stuck closed.

To check it is the air regulator, this is it and found at the back of the engine.

Disconnect the connector and clean it up see if that makes any difference, first. If not squeeze the pipe that goes into the Idle Air Adjusting unit, (IACV side in pic) if the revs drop then too much air going in and the shutter stuck open, time to take apart and clean up.

sorted problem. it was just connector had come loose!!!

How do you get this off? my fingers are to fat to pull off the pipes and there is no slack in the wires to the o2 sensor above it!,
