Afternoon all :D

I could be wrong, but I can't see any posts here in the midlands section informing of, or asking ideas for the next monthly Mids meet

Are they still happening, or, like a lot of other things here, have they gone up sh** creek??

It's just a question, I'm not having a go at anyone ;)

I did have a word with pete about organising a meet for this month yesterday when i saw him. Maybe toward the end of the month?

Well as Nick said we discussed this yesterday(Sat 1st Sep)

Im off to Spain for a couple of weeks and while Im away there is the

Zedfest meet at Calverton Scout camp.(Please be nice to the Scouts!!!) :p

So how about SUNDAY 30th September for the first of our REGULAR Midlands meets to take us through to 2008??

The weather has played havoc with the summer shows so lets get back to a regular monthly schedule here in the Midlands.

WHERE????? Well up to you guys to think of somewhere round the usual Nottingham, Derby, Leicester B;ham area while Im catching some sun on the Costa!! :nana2:

Further to the above, let have some suggestions about a meeting place and I will see what i can organise, as you all probably know I have had some personal problems, but am trying tp put these to one side. So lets have some input and I will see what I can do

Regards

David

Could have a combined meet if at all possible with the S/W Yorks guys? As i remember the last Midlands meet was a very enjoyable day, and im sure there are only so many curries us Yorkshire folks can manage lol!!

Shall we say nottingham again? There's loads of us around there and it's close enough to sheffield/yorkshire area for a few of the other members to come down

yeah its about time we got together again! notts sounds like a good idea. hopefully the old girl will be ready by then.

Is anyone up for ashby folville next week?

Darn it Nick, you are ahead of me already over this one, see new thread, I have taken the liberty of putting your name down on the list.

Cheers

Dave

Right have you any suggestions as to where we should meet on the 30th September, as you all probably know the better watering holes than I do, let me know and I will start a list and we will include the S/W Yorks, guys and gals

A couple spring to mind.......

The Lord Ted @ Newark

The Forge @ Glenfield (Leicester)

Then theres always The Boat @ Solihul (if we ring them this time ;) )

Or even The Racecourse @ Utoxiter (SP?)

So, personally I'll propose The Forge @ Glenfield!!

Anyone want to second it? :D

(Just in case anyone thinks I'm purely going for the closest to me... Lord Ted = 14 miles, Forge = 40 miles ;) )

Forge would be good for me, it was a good meet last time but we need to get there early this time to get some parking

I beleive that we booked a table last time at the Forge, is that correct, if so can someone let me have the phone number. I know that the Lord Ted @ Newark would be good for the S/W Yorks guys, but we did have a bit of bother with the manager there, who complained to both Jay and myself that we were taking up too many car parking spaces, so customers couldn't park. It was pointed out to him that, 1. There was plenty of car park spaces. 2. He got a lot of extra trade from our meet in the way of drinks and food. He was a complete jerk and couldn't see that. So personally I would go for the Forge@Glenfield

i bloody hate that, if we had all been 65 and over from the W.I taking up the same amount of spaces in different little old peoples shopping cars, not a thing would have been said, the spaces are for customers, which as i remember, i spent 35 quid on food and drink (which makes me a customer!) in there, more than any old duffers would have done!

Sorry Dave, I don't remember that one

But then did we inform them in advance that we were coming, as this seems to be a bit of a problem at a few places!

Yep, there were informed that we were going, the manager there had a very negative attitude, all he wanted to do was to put bums on seats and turn around as quickly as possible. He complained before and after people had eaten, even though it was pointed out that he had taken quite a bit of money from out meet, he still went on about his car park and that were were taking up spaces, when in fact we only took a small amount of spaces

Hi,

Some of the regulars probably felt threatened by your Japanese sports cars!....If you had been driving Triumphs or MGs then no one would have been bothered!

There's still a lot of anti Japanese car sentiment around, despite the fact that we haven't a home grown car industry anymore, and everyone else drives around in German VWs, BMW and Audis etc!

Joe public also thinks Fast and Furious when they see a Jap car with large exhausts!

Cheerz,

Jez.

It looks as though it will be Forge at Glenfield, have asked for details of who to contact, think it will the 30th September, can people people please put their names down, so that I can guage interest before contacting the Forge

Cheers

Dave
