they have decided that after nearly two years after the crash i had, i now need a vic check done before i can tax my car, it is due on friday and there is a two week waiting list for the car to be examined

why the fook after two years have they decided this

the guy that crashed into me was took to court by the motoring industry buraeu and charged withdriving without insurance and ordered to pay back in full the stlement that i got + cost's, the solicitor dealing with the claim says i dont haqve to notify the dvla as it is a personal claim with the aid of the MIB, now the dvla are saying it has to be VIC checked and classed as a class C write off

so now my zed will be off the road after friday till i get it sorted, i dont have another car and ive got nowhere to park it off road

im well pissed off at the moment

thats the prob, i sent my docs in a few weeks back as i forgot to change the address on them, aint got them back, still cant understand why they wont let me tax it as i have done in the past till i get the vic test done, apperently i should have recieved a letter from the DVLA a week after the settlement of my claim, i never got a fookin thing as i wouldnrt have spent so much on a car that is a clas c write off (not that it should matter)

you dont need docs to apply for it on line but as they have written to you about it then i guess they prob put a block on your motor being taxed? More bureaucratic red tape b0ll0x this c untry throws at us ffs, just another way to try getting all the old cars off the road, all new regs we are told to have by a country that didnt exsist 200 years ago, our govenment dont run this country anymore they do :xxx:'s Sorry Al went into one, would piss me off too, maybe try and get it on line you never know

well vic check done and car is now taxed and back on the road, the guy doing the check couldnt understand why it had to be done, there was also no paperwork at the vic station to say why it needed doing, fookin usless DVLA w4nkers

stil not sure if it will be recorded on my log book or not, if not then its up for sale, if it is then will keep and spend more cash on it

Thats a bummer Al, if they have classed it CatC it will be on the new V5 which will affect the value of the car. The insurance might also be affected, my wifes Primera was a CatD and some w*nker side swiped her a couple of months ago, my wife was totally blameless but her insurance company went ballistic when they found out it had been a CatD previously and said they wouldn't have insured it if they had known.

Sometimes they just call them in. Had a private plate on my golf and that got pulled in for a check when the seller retained the plate and i had the original number re-allocated....apparently they do one in ten now?...perhaps it was just done on this basis?

It will be recorded on the log book as it has had a vic test, some cat c's don't need a vic test and if they don't it does'nt get recorded on the log book - like a cat d really. When you come to sell it, tenderly explain the situation to them and stay away from phrases like 'written off' and replace them with 'insurance company decided to pay out', you get my drift, you don't have to be dishonest, just vague.

We just sold our clio after finding out it was catD and got fook all for it. Worth 6k got 4k for it.

Having said that we clearly sold it as a catD which you dont have to do in a private sale, we just didnt want to rip buyers off like we were. Im not 100% sure but i think you have to declare a catC car as such when you sell it in a private sale, think it goes on the V5 too.

The value zeds have got at the moment youll have to keep is as selling it catC youll get peanuts for it.
