Went out driving with my brother last night only to park up after doing lots of hard left and hard right steering to get into a parking space to find my Z has dumped a fair bit of fluid on the floor! :( The power steering although still working for a mo is making a horible grindy noise and of course my Hicas Light is on telling me I have no fluid!

Whats the best cause of action then guys, done a serach on here and most people suggest it probably a hydraulic pipe thats has split or come loose! I still the Zed as a daily drive so do I cut the power steering belt for the time being to stop the stress or is there something else I could do!

Don't know what the worse could happen would be as in if the PAS goes all together do I just get heavy steering or do I end up in a hedge!

Please help! Thanks guys! ;)

Car will steer fine without power steering, albeit heavy......if you need to use the car and cant repair yet then I would cut the belt, but it will be a nightmare to park.

Take a look though, could be an easy hose repair.

If you leave it as it is the pump will run completely dry and it will be time for a new one.

Thanks Paul & David! Wow double quick response saying the same thing at the same time! I'll go cut the belt then for the time being till I can get a new hose sorted out.. I know how much of a bitch it's gonna be to park but needs must! If I does go Paul I'll give you a shout for a spare one! ;)

Sorry to see you got probs Jon.

Once you have tracked fault, pos hose. Dont get one of nissan, you can get them made up locally for a fraction of the price. they use old one as a template, same day service as well.

thats what ive done a few times, only thing I cant recall the place as garage did it

Richards would know though.

Hi Ray! Yeah, it's hopefully going on the ramps at Richards today to have a good look underneath as it does look like one of the hoses... They can probably do something with it they said but there are new regulations in place to stop them making there own high pressure hoses now due to the end terminations not being to spec... They did say they'll do something for me though as it's MOT time next week! Still driving her around now i've cut the PAS belt but at a standstill she's heavier than I could imagine! Gonna have arms like Arnie come the end of the week!

Hope all is good with you mate and say you drive past my house a few days a go with the Tops off, you had a passenger with you! Cheers Ray ;)

Yep ok with me, have to have a local meet soon.

Gary who has silver zed, not on forum, lives in Innes road on next road, to me, Kings road;got his car in Richards today. ECU in get you home mode, probably a maf or wiring problem.

where do you live then?

You we're right Ray, he's got a dead MAF! went to see them today, it is a high pressure hose thats failed at one of the crimping ends on mine so there gonna do me a new one.. I live at the old Police station in Redruth, just past the Rose Cottage, saw you come rumbling down the road out my bedroom window! Shelton's brother Mike is just a few doors down too so a nice little Z community in Redruth and Camborne going on! Another meet soon would be cool!

Personally i would of bought a bottle of fluid and put it in to see if or where it is leaking from before doing anything drastic, as said above may be a simple fix
