After successfully converting the dash and pods to led, i thought i would give the auto box selector a go, as compared to the dash lights, they looked very washed out and not as bright.

I havent taken any pics yet as my digicam is crap and you only think of taking piccies of how too's when its done. If anyone is interested ican do a step by step and whats required to do the mod.

Only took a couple of hours to do, including taking the centre console apart and what a difference, even the red selector marker lights up, so you can now see what gear you have selected instead of guessing at night.

Next project is to change the interior festoons to leds.

Any one with any other led option suggestions let me now, i will give it a go while im in the experimental mode.

Cheers

Graham

I replaced my selector light with an LED. It takes the same LED that you use on the dash, not the ones that you need to solder a resistor on but the bigger ones that unscrew.

cheers for your reply guys

I appreciate that replacing with a 501 led will do the trick, but didnt really do it for me, the brightness compared to the pods and dash didnt compare.

The selector housing has a reflector at the park end and although it gives an even light, i wanted it a tad brighter, so i added 6x 5mm leds under each symbol. To enhance the light further i also placed foil shiny side up on some double sided tape and placed this along the inside of the bulb housing to give extra spread.

It was more fiddley than 1 bulb replacement, but adding the extra ones is more effective.

Just my opinion.

Yep did the same with mine agaes ago, but coloued LED's for each one. also added a red LED to the selector marking thing lol

where did you place the red one for the selector marking? on the side pointing in toward it or something else.

yeah its actually fixed to the moving part facing the end, its a pig to get it to stay stuck though.
