Of my old Cavalier Coupe and also my Opel Manta gte , brings back some memories .

In the cav, coupe my old mucker Mantav8 helped me drop in a Fiat 2 litre twin cam engine and 5 speed box from a 132 Mirafiori , great little engine  dropped on a 400 rally bodykit and painted it in Rothmens colours

As for the Manta gte i bought it damaged , repaired it and fitted an Ellegance bodykit and some 17" rims

what a transformation good repair and a bit rare now !

Cheers bud , i can,t remember the last time i,ve seen one on the road , loved these cars though , so much better than a Capri ( ducks and waits for the mud to be thrown ) :D :D

I,ve even got video of the gte on Curborough sprint track

Gotta agree with you there mate

BTW, nice cars - both of 'em :)

Those were the days......

.....I also had a Cav 1.9 GLS sports hatch and then a Manta back in my teens. Loved the 80s.....

And I see a series 1 or 2 Jag XJ6 in one of your pics - I had a series 2 4.2 myself as well! Great car - in dark indigo blue with loads of chrome work. Looked like a bank robber's car from the Sweeney.....

Richard :)

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

 Ahhh the memories, loved my Manta, 2.0ltr Berlinetta SR, beige velour seats and trim, as opposed to the hideous tartan fookers in the later 1.8 berlinetta, it was a great car in its day.

Used to have a manta gte too, in baryt brown metallic, sounds naff, but

looked awesome. Was the hatchback version, really wanted the coupe,

just couldn't find one, rare as rocking horse sh*t.

Manta's were the mutts nutts in their day, top rally cars.

I have had 3, yes 3 cav coupes all with the 1.9s engine in, and Boldy you are right so much better than the Capri they went round corners like nothing else.

I'm back in an Omega now and lovin it.

Looks like we,ll all got good taste , then and now

i used to have a black gsi manta it was a peach of a car but yours looks awesome mate

I think you'll find it was a GSE. Mantas were never badged GSi.

I tell you what I was really fond of, and still am, the Monza GSE. Lovely car and even back then, A/C was optional extra!!

...the best kit that you used to be able to get for the MK1 Cavalier coupes was the Mantzel Evolution wide arch kit.

   or the Courtney Manta turbo , 155mph and left lotus turbo.s for dead !!

There was a guy in the owners club who had a slightly tuned 24v Senator engine fitted , now that was quick

A friend of mine had one that he was trying to cram a 3.0 V6 engine in instead of the inline 6 engines from the Carlton/Senator. He space framed the engine bay and anything. He used to use the Manta forums user name was 'Animal'.

It must be the 2 door coupe thing going on, I almost got an MX6 cos it reminded me of the Manta

Had a GTE, which went up in flames lol. But my favorite manta i had was the A series had 3 1.9 Berllinetta's the last 1 was going to have a Rover V8 dropped in it, which never happened as my neighbour offered my a good price for it as they where quite rare then, impossible to find 1 now, would love to get hold of 1 for a project and drop a zed TT in it
