Stuttering / hesitation

Thanks for your welcome but I also need your help and advice...

I have a problem in that the car, an auto, won't let me accelerate hard and won't go past 3000 rpm and can stall. I am a slight technophobe but have considered the MAF, it may have got damp recently, I have tried to dry it out but the problem persists. It also has an Apexi filter if that helps.
