there would still be a spark when turning over though (just out of time)

he did say he seems to get a spark as he lets go of the key, but admitadly if timing is out a bit car should still start, unless valves are bouncing :wack:

Have read on another thread that often if the ecu connector is screwed in too tight it doesnt start either, just a thought.

Mines outside the same turns over but doesnt start. It was starting but had a misfire so I cleaned the temp sensor connector and now it wont start! Ive ordered a new PTU as mine is the original S1 and a second hand good working CAS and new sensors as Im tired of trying to find out which bit needs a wiggle!

Good luck Z1 in the states are selling PTU for 150 dollars and good used CAS for the same if you want to do the same.

were is the ecu connector in the engine bay thanks

I had a very similar prob, ie no spark and the fan running after I let go of the key. In my case, and thanks to this forum, it was the connections in the loom under the bonnet, not sure which one as I simply cleaned and checked all of them that I had been anywhere near. And I also "settled" the wiring down a bit, I mean, I tried to make sure the loom was not stretched, if you know what I mean?

This got me a spark. The fan stopped running too.

also check ur earth wire comming from yor ecu to the ignition relay in engine bay, i had a prob with that and car wouldnt start, just occasnaly sparkd. i think its orange black wire.
