Advice please -

I left my 91 300zx tt in to get seal changed in the engine as it was leaking oil. That was 3 months ago. Whilst its been in the garage i've been informed that it was in saftey mode and that the knock sensor needed replaced along with the oxygen sensors as they were broken.

The garage is having problems getting one of the oxygen sensors although all of the other work has been completed. I'm being informed by the mechanic that the car isn't running and that the engine floods everytime he starts it. All of this is being blamed on the oxygen senor is this even possible? :(

Nope, no way o2 sensor can cause that.

Did they just bypass the det sensor or did they replace it, as its a pretty major job to get to (£300-£400 job) and most opt for the bypass. If they replaced it then they may have damaged the EFI loom when disconnecting it to remove plenum, or they could possibly have got the injectors plugged in wrong order

p.s If they are having trouble getting hold of one of the 02 sensors then its worth noting that both o2 sensors are the same, but are listed as different part numbers and one is more expensive than the other...but they are the same.

Just lead lengths are slightly different :)

Hope they've not damaged the injector tips when they took them out to remove the lower intake (to get to the det sensor). You don't need to seperate the fuel rail from the lower intake but most places just remove it anyway...

new direct fit o2 sensors can be had from Andrew page, but dead or disconnected o2 should not cause it to flood and not start

The engine was out as it got a complete gasket kit. I have been told by that it was only running on 4 cylinders at one stage and making a lot of strange rattling noises. I'm extremelly worried that this my engine may be wrecked. I really appreciate all of the advice so far but what could be the reason for the engine flooding and not starting?
