hello

perhaps you can help me here please. (see pic below)

I've just purchased a manual zxtt gearbox and there are two bits missing. One I'm 100% is the hydraulic clutch slave cylinder but the other I don't know.

also

when I look at the housing of the gearbox I can't seem to see where the starter motor would fit. i.e. ther is no bulge where you would logicvally associate a starter gear plugging in unless that hole I'm uncertain of is the the starter location.

if anyone has a diagram or picture of the starter location on a TT gearbox that would help me a great deal. You may wonder why I have no idea about such components and the answer to that is I'm using the zx engine and gearbox for a project vehicle and have now zx to reference.

thanks to all that can help

In the attached image you can see the starter bolted in to where you guessed it should go, and just to the right of that is the clutch slave cylinder.

little tip bud,

you may well have already though of this but, crack both plugs whilst the box is off, they could well be FT, will be a hell of a lot easyer when you come to fill it ;)

cheers guys very helpful and nice reminder tip.

sorry to follow it up with another question.

I know the flywheels of manuals and autos are different but does that mean the starter motors are too.

looking to buy a starter off ebay but they say its off an auto not sure if it will work!

I think i'm right in saying that you can get an auto starter to fit a manual box but the pinon gears are a different lengths and to fit it you will need to use washers behind the bolts to space properly.

Hopefully someone will be along soon to correct me if i'm wrong
