Hey - you can call in for a cuppa if you're passing by here on your way to York :)

ive just been to york, and from what i can remeber the picture and piano on the riverside is very nice (actualy most along the riverside are nice), there is also a pub called something like the slug and lettuce, sounds rotten but is actually a nice modern pub, there are a lot of little local pubs, but most dont take to strangers

i stayed in the exehibition pub, twas ok but nowt flash

Hmmmm ... kill two birds with one stone and go to the Bunbury Arms in Stoak, about 2 miles away from the zoo. It's a really nice 'traditional' pub, but also does great food.

On the other hand, if you are staying in Chester city centre, there are loads of good places to choose from. Pastarazzi is meant to be nice (although I think it'[s overrated); Egos does good meditteranean food, La Tasca is great for tapas; Chez Jules is a great rustic French restaurant - as is Franc's (but they charge extra for veg ... so the bill soon mounts up); Moules a Go-Go is a good Belgian restuarant that specialises in mussels - the list is really long!

If you are going to Cheshire Oaks Outlet Village then there are lots of big-chain eating places near there - TGIFridays (if you can bear it), Nandos, Mezze, Old Orleans, and an all-you-can-eat Chinese Buffet called Elements (although it's pretty dire sometimes, it is endless buffet so suits some folk)

Hope this is of use

There's a great Thai - The Ruan Orchard on Lower Bridge Street... love it in there! Pubs wise - there's a few decent bars in the city - Bar Lounge, Amber Lounge & Watergates are the trendy ones... The Custom House, The Vic & The Red Lion are more traditional pubs which have a good atmosphere. In the city centre, most pubs are pretty decent.

best thing to do in York is have a wander round and youll stumble across something nice, im going Sunday night.
