Pls bear with me on this one. "Old Git" here south wales. Maybe something for the purists amongst you??. As you can see I am the old fart of the club, my problem is I have a young man living next door to me who has an Audi S3. He claims it is puhing 277-280 BHP at the wheel, Unfortunately after a couple of beers he has challenged me to a run!!! I know that on public roads I could do him cos he doen1t look further than his bonnet. "Still with me???" But I won`t do it cos of obvious reasons. His car is very quick I`ve driven it. What I want to know is what can I do to a unmodified TT Auto for under a grand (which I was prepared to spend anyway) to give me a chance??? Pls help if you can I can fob him off for a while, he`s at Santa Ponsa this weekend. Thanks in anticipation ianj.

Yeah, good points. I didn't have a single clue what was going on with my first Zed until it was in many pieces! I don't really get the decatting argument that some people talk about. If the tubs are gone when you take the cats off then they were gone before you took them off, or at least were on the way. Its just a tad more obvious when its spilling clouds of oil out the back :) Plus the auto box is stronger than the manual anyhow, not that I'd ever go near another haha. I like your Zed by the way ;)

Thats what im saying but obviously not well enough........man i hate slavery, it leaves me knackered all the time.

I think its the other way around mate. The mig tips release air from the signalling pipes at a small rate so it takes a higher boost in the system to operate the waste gates. Apologies if I'm mixed up but I'm pretty sure this is what happens.

I'd like to add a spanner in here! Mig welding tips are not a good way to up the boost on any car. I stuck a good explanation that I found in a thread recently about them. You will get the waste gates operating at different boost levels depending on how hot or cold (density of ) the air in the system is and how much is being released by the jets. You can get boost spikes and kill your tubs. A computer boost controller doesn't have this problem. People say they are using mig tips without any problems but they wouldn't know if they had problems until over time the pistons disintigrate from running lean, or the turbos fail from too high boost.

...Plus the auto box is stronger than the manual anyhow....

 Nope! The Autobox is the Z32 achilies heel.....whereas the Manual is very strong and capable of holding a LOT of power.
