just signed in to say hi guys i`m a recently converted 300zx fan the scenario being i have to date had only old skool fords (capri 280`s and a few audi urd quattro`s) one

of six made turbo technics f-16 240 bhp for an obscene amountof money with the view to becoming a 300zx owner as my girlfriend bought one a couple of months ago(as a daily driver)since then i`ve been smitten with `em (i love the r.w.d. big b.h.p.thing) so my first question is i have a few bob to lay out on my first aquisition where do i go to purchase the best of the best "top dollar" or "yen" lol.lol. twinturbo targa topped beasty and what sort of money would i expect to lay out for such a car??????? i`m away in the south of france til the 20th august so the acquisition won`t be made til then i just need a few leads to the best import houses.

also what clubs are around as i like to meet and converse with like minded peeps and rest assured she`ll be well lavished as my capri`s are she`ll even sit next to my new capri a 3.0 factory built x-pack conversion running a 220bhp 3.0 v6 essex model(if i can get the geezer to part with it).cheers chris e boy

she`s a bit shy t.b.h. she leaves the cars to me i clean em,service em and occasionally drive `em as well.her capri is quite famous as well its the one used by the b.b.c in the eastenders edition where alfie moon bought it and him and kat used it to exit eastenders for ever.(all total c**p but hey).thanks for the welome b.t.w. the hunt will start when i get back to england(ohh i`m all excited now)

As for your options, it depends on what you are looking for really and cash:

 

For £5-8k - All singing all dancing modded beast. At this price range you should be able to get one of the best around with new engine, new turbos, all supporting mods to run high power. For the money you pay you get a lot more car as the market for selling isn't so good due to so many dogs being about. They come up every so often on here, last one that springs to mind is SteveEs' a month or two back which was very very nice and had had big money spent.

 

£4-5k About the average price for a very good well modded Zed these days with everything done to it eg new turbos, possibly new engine, and in good nick all round. Nice alloys, maybe boost controller, some bling etc

UK ones tend to fetch a premium due to rarity,known history and cheaper insurance, but you usually get some rust in the bargain. Manual are much more desirable, lots of people convert from auto to manual (aprox £1200 all in).

 

£3-4k A good standard Zed goes for about this price. Look for one with most things already done eg turbos(£2500!), clutch (£500), prop shaft bearing (£250),etc, like mine thats tentatively for sale as I could do with something more practical :)

If you get a good one then you get a lot of car for the money.

 

Under 3k - usually requires a couple of grand to get it right!

thanks for the advice i suppose i`m a bit of a "as nissan intended" sort of bloke probs my age mate t.b.h. i suspect i can get a cracking motor for around the 4-8k mark (not over interested in mods) as long as its straight and origional i`ll pay the dosh thanks for your post chap most imformative as all this modded stuff confuses me old brain.

i`ll let yas all know what i spend my cash on. i take it the sarf east meets are at the grasshopper in westerham which is a place i can relive youth in as i used to use the nightclub there as "young man" in the 80`s

Yep The Grasshopper mate :) Take a look at my car as it may be just what you are looking for and you are fairly nearby. I'll stick some pictures up that I've taken tonight,but will get better ones in a day or two as the light is low and my phone camera is rubbish. I think I have relations in Woking so may get down that way sometime! Another standard one that looks very good and is for sale at the moment is John-boy in Maidstone. He's just bought SteveEs one that I mentioned.

I see from the pic your girlfriend's is a Normally Aspirated model (NA) as opposed to the Twin Turbo (TT) it is a very tidy looking model indeed.
