after a rummage through threads I believe

I can fit a na manual box to a tt engine by grinding out a couple of mm on the housing of the box and spacing starter by washers + converting front prop section to also accommodate.

OR

fit the na manual box using the starter/clutch/flywheel off a na (I would need an uprated clutch to cope with tt power)

please inform if such options are valid?

many thanks

Paul

The NA bellhousing will fit over a TT flywheel and all you need to do is shim the Strater motor locating bolts with 2 1mm washers as the TT flywheel is 4mm wider in diameter. You also have to get the Manual front half of the prop or a complete TT Manual prop as the Auto prop is shorter.

Remember the NA prop will not mate with the TT diff. However the NA and TT manual box is the same apart from the bell housing.

The other thing is the speed sensor on the NA box is calibrated for the NA diff which is lower geared than the TT so you must have the correct speed sensor for the diff. ie TT diff needs TT gearbox speed sensor. NA diff = NA sensor.

When you use a TT flywheel and uprated TT clutch with a NA peddle box, your peddle presure may feel too heavy as the NA peddle box has no servo booster assistance. This can be overcome buy using a length of coiled high presure airline as found on HGV class 1 vehicals. Better asking Chris C the how's and wherefores. He has done this on his car to great affect.
