may have to buy a consult, unless i can get someone to the north east motor show who has one, i was thinking o2 sensors, but sometimes it runs great, also it actually runs better on normal unleaded than it does on super or vpower

Sure the MAF isn't wet or that it's knackered. Anyone close by who could let you try theirs?

Conzult is the easiest and quickest way of finding out, but sounds like a naf MAF.

My car used to smell of petrol fumes until recently. I have just had my exhaust replaced at Infinity and they said the original, an HKS Superdragger, was too short as it left a slight sooty deposit on the rear bumper. The new system protrudes out a bit further and I no longer get fumes coming in.

am going to have a good look at it on friday afternoon (early finish), will check maf

have also seem to have lost boost and if i let it tick over for a while it seems to flood the engine as it misses and backfires, if i put my foot to the floor it misses and doesnt go well, but if i gradually put my foot down it seems to go better

O2 sensors can be checked with a multimeter. When at full operating temperature, the signal wire should carry between 0.9 & 1.0 volts (fluctuating). Any less than 0.85 volts when hot = knackered sensor.
