Hi,

Anyone have any tips on repairing, painting or replacing the trim which runs along side of windscreen and over the roof, the black paint has started coming off leaving shiny metal which is underneath, saw a few with this when looking at cars to buy so i guess its quite common.

Cheers :duffer:

same as happened to all the zeds i've had, im thinking of stripping it off to bring up the shiny metal below or rub it down smooth and paint matt black. Its that and scuttle that are the only things that make the car look old

They all do it.

It's not paint though! It started off as rubber (no honest) but they perish to a hard textured finish.

I didn't believe it until I took one of mine off and saw the very bottom bit was still rubbery!

Only fix is replace it, or scrape the black crap off and recoat somehow.

Yeah thought of scrapping it off and re-painting but didnt want it to look like a bodge, does the trim come off easy enough ?

It can be a bit of a PITA 'cos of the plastic clips holding it in to the channel.

One of those "just take your time" things.

There's a write-up somewhere how to do it.

I've pulled all mine off and the scuttles as i've had a respray and they looked shite.Over £300 to replace though

I paid about £140 for the window strips, targa strips and the small ones on the tailgate for my old 2+2 through SWZ ! Well worth it.
