My drivers side electric window has taken fits of stops and starts. Could work for weeks then nothing. The black switch behind the door panel is clicking when I try to use it but that's all, the motor won't work. I read on the forum that it probably means the motor is kaput. Does anyone know what other Nissan uses the same motor or where I can get one. CheerZ, S

i would say that the black box behind the door panel is faulty.

take it apart and solder all the joints they get dry over the years and produce this exact fault. i did this 2 years ago and my window is still working strong. if it works you havent spent anything ;)

yes. otherwise it would have been the test probe out to get the window up. lol. ive been an auto electrician for the last 15 years so it didnt take long to find the problem. dry joint on one of the main plug pins. ;)

Took the switch apart and re-connected it without the casing and it worked in fits and starts so it seems you folks are right. Thanks again. When you say solder ALL the joints do you mean just that or only the eight connector block joints? There is a total of 'bout 60(ish) soldered joints on the circuit board. S

IF YOU GENTLY PUSH ON EACH COMPONENT YOU MAY SEE MOVEMENT ON THE FAULTY (DRY) JOINT. I DID THEM ALL TO STOP FROM HAPPENING IN THE FUTURE FROM ANOTHER DRY JOINT. UP TO YOU REALLY.

just the connector block ones & the relay ones :D i doubt any of the others will go as they dont take much current

Cheerz again. I'll get at the soldering then. Not my greatest talent but reckon I'll be better at it when I'm finished. Thanks again.

glad it worked. its nice when one thing works without spending any money! :hyper: :hyper:

I'm actually in the process of taking mine apart but I've hit a wall! I've managed to prize the box open and most of the circuit board is coming away but it seems to be joined still at one point and I can't see how to take it apart.....fotos below....any ideas?? ASAP would be appreciated!!

From what I can see there's 6 joints at the back that won't budge unless I break them?? I'm new to this so a bit hesitant!! Already managed to snap off one arm but think I can solder it back on!

umm. that is not the box we are on about. the pics you have put up look like the rear of the window switch unit. the control unit is the one just behind and down from where the inner door handle is that you shut the door with.

which of your windows has stopped working ?

oops!! That's not good then! The driver's side!

yeah. its not good. take another look at the door. if you look where the handle bracket is, then look to the right, and down a bit. you will see a black box with one screw holding it to the door.

Will i have to take off the door panel to access this? Otherwise I can't see what you're referring to....sorry!! Trying to solder back the arm I snapped off earlier...looks like it may have worked...fingers crossed! If all else fails I may be on the market for a new drivers side switch box!

Thanks for the help Mario!

Is there some kind of manual or 'write-up database' for where to find all the different screws/how to take apart parts of the car, etc...?

Thanks again
