well ive agreed to work saturday now, so thats that down the pan if our club will still be attending!

so let me get this strait.

its on this weekend? I thought it was last weekend, but there ya go.

but no one checked with billing, if they gt anymore rain it will be a mud slide even if it is on.

never trust the weather forevast, this weekend it forecast rain rain rain for the GP which is very close to billing and it turned out to be glorious, so much so i look like a lobster thermidore!!

so let me get this strait.

The decision to cancel was made last Thursday. At that time the main area we were to use was waterlogged and in a very poor state. The 10 day forecast (at that time) wasn't promising, with further rain forecast for this week.

The ZClub made the decision to cancel, in order to give members as much prior notice as possible. They had members from all across Europe making the trip across and needed to consider them also.

We had no alternative but to cancel along with the ZClub, as a lot of the organising and facilities were arranged jointly between the two clubs.

As already stated, we are liaising with the ZClub to find an alternative date and venue. ATM, it's looking like early September but will post up more information when we have confirmation.

well if its cancelled its cancelled but surely we can all do something for those who will end up out of pocket, like has been suggested, a get together or fun weekend, its a shame they are set to lose out!

I phoned Billing as did Slick Pete and they had nothing to do with the cancellation and they didnt warn that it would or might be shut. From what I can aasertain it was a few members of the Z Club committee that thought it would be best incase it was bad weather.

As for going anyway? Well because it was a joint event and the Z Club were in charge I should imagine that there wont be any marquee for us to gather at and therefore nowhere to have our AGM or get food and entertainment so basically its off?

I am annoyed mainly because I can rarely get a weekend off of work and this was to be my only meeting of the year. I guess it just goes to show that we shouldnt rely on another club for our main event? I presume next year we will be back at JAE?

no not JAE lol!! a club weekend away was a fantastic idea!!, if we know when the resched is i can book dates, its just hard with work to get weekends.

Well there are two points to be made here IMO.

Firstly.... are 300ZX Club only going to have an event when Z Club decide to have one. What happened to 300ZX.co Uk National events????

Secondly the proposed new date and venue is not at Billing but in NORTH NOTTS.I believe.

Hardly the most central of locations!!! :nono:

And while I appreciate the prompt replies from our very active Membership secretary it would also be good to have some input from our own NEO on possible alternative dates and locations???

There's still JAE - the UK's largest Japanese car event.

Fri 20 - Sun 22 July, East of England Showground, Peterborough.

We have a 300zx.co.uk stand/stall there. More importantly I'll be there with a bootfull of booze.

Hope to see as many of you there as possible. :duffer:

I tell you what mate if I wasnt so skint I might have taken a sicky but its more than my wife would stand for. Its such a fookin shame I was really looking forward to having a weekend off of work and doing something decent.

so who's going to the jae then?? is this where everyone is going now??

to be honest i dont think ill be going to JAE, too much distance to look at the same bloody cars that were there last year, please keep me posted on Billing though, the only reason that folk are so hacked off is obvious, it was going to be a winner and everyone was really looking forward to it.

Are you sure and where is our REO to answer all our questions and organise something for us ?

vince i know what you're saying but ive camped at billing when it rained and its on a flood plain - it very quickly tuurns into a mud bog - people would have been shouing far louder if it had gone ahead and been a disaster

i think it was reasonable in the circumstances to air on the side of caution and cancel it.

regards,

alex

surely its about the club aswell !

it is about the club, but i was knocking JAE on the head for billing, was really looking forward to it, bbq at mine instead lol!!

I think the name kind of gives away the probable state.

Billing Aquadrome

There is a bike show in in my village if anybody is itnterested. Usually a good show of bikes with bands food stalls going on till 2 in the morning and you can camp over if you want.

This is a link to last years event.

We are only 45 miles from billing as well.

We could have a mini meet in the car park perhaps.

Have a look at my sig and you will see that I am trying to organise a show/meet at the same place. I have offered this to the committee for the AGM etc and they are going to discuss at the next meeting.

Would have been nice for them to have been honest instead they blamed it on the Billing management and now Suzy is saying that the information given to this club had got lost in translation so we were misinformed?

Anyway my point has been made and I appologise to anyone including the Z Club for being annoyed but as I said this was my only opportunity for a decent get together. It will wear off as usual.

I'm pretty certain we DO have a stand there.

Over to our national events organiser / regional events organiser......

I'm going. Even if the 300zx.co.uk presence isn't up to much I think torque-power.co.uk, japgirls and plenty of other groups will be there so I recon it'll be a good event.

edit - YES, 300zx.co.uk will be at JAE

"As Alot Of You Will Already Know Our Main Summer Event Will Be A Week Previous To Jae This Year At Billing, that Does Not Mean We Will Not Be At Jae In Peterborough On The 20th To 22nd July Just On A Smaller Scale So Feel Free To Add Your Names , Many Thanks Jason"

Answer to your first point is YES, we are having our event in conjunction with the ZClub. This has been arranged for months now. Just because Billing has been cancelled, doesn't mean we will be finding an alternative venue without the ZClub.

As far as 'What happened to our NEO'. What else do you need to hear that you must have it heard from the NEO. The club has nothing new to tell anyone.

Answer to your second point: Yes, AFAIK a proposed site in Nottinghamshire is being looked at but once again, pointless the Committee giving out information that hasn't yet been confirmed.

As for your point about Notts hardly being central. IMHO, that's utter rubbish. Nottingham is actually more central than Northampton, by a long way as well. We have many members in Scotland and NE England who have no trouble travelling 200~300 miles for Billing. What makes you think members from the SE & SW wouldn't do the same?

Get an map of the UK, place a pen on Nottingham and then tell me it's not very central.

It seems a bit odd that the Z club didn't just issue a warning last week, rather than cancel. They could have warned everyone that the site was under water and, if the rain continued, it would have to be cancelled.

Not that it's really anything to do with me, as I wasn't going anyway, but it seems sensible to me for *our* committee to make these sorts of decisions rather than have another club's committee do it instead.

problem is our committee liased with zclub as im aware and decided a joint venture would provide more excitement for all copncerned, if the Billing event was initially arranged by Zclub then its seems appropriate that if they feel it necessary to be cancelled, then it is ultimately their decision.

Thats the problem with joint ventures when one party decides on an action it never suits all involved and causes these kinds of confrontations, its a shame it was set to be a blinding event, im sure the decision was not made on a whim and good old British weather will do as always do as it pleases!! At the end of the day committees do the job because they have a love for it, so decisions like this are never made with the wrong intentions!

Christ some of you lot are a moany bunch!

If you wanna do something the weekend of Billing then organise it! Find a campsite and see how many people you can get down for a weekend drinking and mucking about in a field with your cars and stupid field games, football, cricket, tug of war, BBQ's etc etc etc.

Ask the club if they can sub it £200 or something to go towards the campsite fees.

Be a bit more proacvtive in the club.
