sticking governor

my auto box isnt shifting properly. it will not shift smoothly through the gears. if i keep my foot down the rpms just go up and it just stays in gear. but if i lift my foot off completely and let the rpms go down it will shift up and i can resume driving.

Just been told by someone that it could have a sticking governor. How do i mend this?

Thanx

He also told me to get some auto transmission additives, where can i get this? and what is it?

Firstly check your gearbox oil level and the state of the oil for cleanliness. If it is cloudy then your filter is blocked and probably your valve block as well. They can be cleaned out by removing your gearbox oil pan, not a nice job. Frankly it sounds like your box is on the way out. By the way there is not a governor fitted.

The fluid is new and clean, the filters been checked.

It could be electrical so do an automatic gearbox check via the ECU. It is outlined in the manual. Normally it is mechanical failure that causes your symptoms and requires a replacement box. In the items for sale, 'ZXRACER' has a recon one going really cheap and it includes the receipt for the work.

Common problem often related to the throttle position sensor settings.

The fact it changes when coming off the throttle reinforces this and the best bet is to get do a search for tps set up and follow it, hopefully that will sort it out or at least make it better.
