One month in from buying my zed and my first problem has occured (I feel part of the forum now :) ).

ย

I went for a meal yesterday, 10miles away from my house, didnt particularly drive hard, parked up outside the restaurant and went in. Came back to the car, turned the key and it wouldnt start (It normally starts first time). I gave it a break of a few minutes then tried again whilst pumping the gas and it started after about 5seconds of ignition. However, this morning it started first time just with an idle that jumped from 1.5k down to .5k and back up again. What could be causing this? Is it a fuelling problem?

ย

I am still under warranty so would ideally like to get it sorted whilst covered.

Is it nothing to worry about? Only the prolonged firing up happened again today.

Check for dirty throttle bodies, malfunctioning/dirty idle air valve, malfunctioning coolant temp sensor.

You have more than one issue, the main poor hot starting is almost certainly a bad connection at the engine temp sensor, this is mentioned here many times is at the front of the engine and is the larger of two sensors fitted in the silver metal water pipes.

Remove and clean the connection is the usual cure for this.

Unsteady idle can be cause by too low setting of the base idle, dirty connections on the tps closed throttle switch or auxillary valve needs cleaning.

Non of the above are a major problem to correct and it is important to not get down about it as it will spoil the new car high. Check all the connections and do a search here for aux air clean and set up and that should sort it out.
