Hi I have just got hold of a second hand ecu for my car it is from a tt auto, whereas mine is a manual. I have checked the Codes/number on th stickers on the ecu chips....the nuber on the auto chip is (8AB9122A) and the number on my manual ecu chip is (8AB9121J) can anyone spread any light on why the chip would be different maybe, Id like to find out before i plug it in as i dont want to do any damage. thanks Jay

Thankyou Andy that would be much appreciated. thanks Jay

The maps on the chips will be slightly different, the auto ECU will work in the manual car, it'll probably be OK, but you should listen out for detonation just in case. I've not seen a 122A chip before, most are 122J. The 121J is most likely from a Jap TT manual from approx 1991.

Thanks andy, So do we know what the last letter of the chip code stand for? anything inparticular? cheers Jay

You cannot fit a manual ECU into an automatic but you can fit an automatic ECU into a manual. If you are not too sure about the auto fuel maps, then why not just get it socketed and get yourself a custom chip from AndyP.
