Is it advisable to run without this fan? Ive started removing all the aircon and just wondered do I really need this?

No you don't if you have a good electric fan instead of the viscus unit. I haven't had an Auxiary fan for about 3 years.

i'm not so sure, mine has been broken for years, and its never overheated even when stuck in stop-start traffic for ages on roasting hot days.

thats probably because your temp gauge is pants

as mark said its good to have, i bet when your stuck in traffic with the fan not working there will be a raise in temps! wether its a major increase, i think any cooling on a z is important.

Its there for added safety. It should'nt come on if the Viscous fan and rest of the cooling system is doing its job.

It comes on if temps rise above 105c (or 95c if you have aircon on at same time)

just a quick question, does anyone know the target running temperature for a stock TT?

i think around 80-85

Water temp should be around 80 degrees C and Oil temp should be around 90 degrees C

With regaurd to the auxilary fan. I'd say if your keeping your aircon then it would be a good idea, because the aircon condensor unit limits the airflow through the rad and will adversley affect it when in heavy traffic on a hot day. However the question was regarding the removal of the aircon system ie condensor etc. Then I would recomend removing thr fan as it is restricting the airflow through the rad and will contribute to increase temps.

Not if you are sitting in a traffic jam.
