Had my Zed a week, ran fine, i was out in it last night, just gone to get it of the drive and its DEAD !

Alarm wont activate/deactivate, open doors with the key, does not even turn over, no lights etc, cant beleive the battery would have completely died over night ??

Any ideas ? i aint got a battery charger or multimeter so shall i just splash out on a new battery or is there anything else i should try ?

I think a battery charger would be cheaper. You could try connecting jump leads and if you get ignition lights on then its obviously the battery.

 

Actually starting the car via jump leads isnt recommended but ive done it a couple of times. just turn your headlights on when the car is running before disconnecting the leads to avoid voltage problems which could take out your ecu.

This happened to me once before, i'd caught the buttons on the side of the drivers seat with my foot and one of the buttons had stuck, it drained the battery completely, i just jumped the car and all was fine, the battery is only about 6 months old

Another problem to check is your interior light door switches, they sometimes seem to not always turn the light off.

Yep sorted it, tight sqeeze getting out when car is on the drive so i put the seat all the way back, switch was still on!! Dead battery, just borrowed jump leads off a neighbour and got it started, hope i aint knackered the ecu now :confused:

Anyway panic over nothing, thanks for the advice guys :D

if you have drained the battery its the same as dissconecting it , it will reset the ECU nothing more ...so the car will go through its learning curve again now as to how you drive it .probably providence that the battery was flattened for a new owner any way :))

ECU will be fine, wouldnt run otherwise.

Overnight seems too quick for the battery to go dead on you but it has happened to me and the reason was the boot light was on all the time. So I would get the battery checked mate.

on the subject of the battery, anyone know the best place to get one for an n/a . im in essex if that helps..... thanks guys. oh and glad you got it sorted easily 1 ROBBO..
