Would you fookin believe it? My 10 month old Suzuki GS650 with only 2400 miles on the clock started to missfire after starting it up the other day. I started it up and it wont run off choke. I took it round the block for a 20 minute run to see if it would clear. Nope! So I phoned Suzuki UK and told them they said take it to your local main dealership. I did. He has looked at it and says that he can not find any problems with it on initial investigation and he suspects the carbs are either blocked or in some way not functioning properly. So I said OK take them apart and find out. Not unless you pay me I cant. ???? This is the score:

He cant strip anything down on the bike unless I pay. Suzuki will not pay for investagative work only to fix the problem? So this means that I have to pay him for ? hours of work and then when he finds the problem they will sort it out. Basically pay for the parts.

What a crock of shite.

That doesn't sound right at all? Get onto the Motorcycle news helping hand/advice section and shame them up.

So is it still missing now? Had you ridden it in the rain before you put it away? My bandit had these stupid red NGK plug caps that although pucka trapped the rain and then of course I had a 3 cylinder bandit :)

Got to agree with everything Russ said.

Sounds more like moisure around the plug leads than a fuel problem.

The dealer should fix it and not charge you anything. The warranty guarantees that, as would your consumer rights.

Also... maybe the mechnic isn't that good. I think it's fuel injected not carbs anyway...

If you get stuck, Chris Dabbs at MCN is the man to speak to. Chris.dabbs@emap.com. Tell him Tim Cummings suggested he might be able to help. It's right up his street.

The new bandit is fuel injected yes, the old one wasn't :)

Maybe he means an injector is blocked?

I have just picked it up from the shop. He told me that he has had the plugs out one of which was pretty black. He cleaned it all and put new fuel straight into the carbs. (it isnt injected) its the K6 2006 '56 regd model Bandit with ABS and is deffo carb'd. It runs rough on low revs and tick over now but if you open it up then it flys. Sounds like idle jets to me? But as I said he has no licence to strip it down as he wont get paid by Suzuki? I will look into it but he reckons he has had problems of late with Suzuki doing warranty work and is thinking of dropping them. I will ring them Monday meanwhile have a look at the links you have given me. Thanks for your input lads.

No It didnt get wet whilst riding. I just went outside to go out on the bike and it started playing up from the second it was started. Before it was fine. Its always covered and well alarmed and there is no evidence of any tampering. I filled the tank a while back so the petrol has been ok for half a tank so how could it have been that?

Vini

Go to another dealer if there is one local vinni, sounds more like the one you tried is not happy with Suzuki or maybe the other way round and he is possibly even loosing main dealer status so is not keen to help, I have owned a few GSXRs from new and never had a problem with warranty work.
