cruise control removal

I have an aftermarket kit and have disconnected the cc in the car, yesterday i disconnected the cable on the left (as you look from the front) which i assume is the cruise control cable.

 

my question is :

 

the cable runs to a black unit and then to a box in the upper drivers side of the engine bay, can i just remove all of this or will it affect anything else?
