Going for 5 days at the end of August with my missus for her 40th.

Going to do the usual tourist stuff, but want some tips on places to visit/eat/drink that might not be the usual tourist traps ?

Who's been and any recomendations ?

Cheers

Yeah i wanted to check out little italy, see where all the gangster films were made, didnt know Dinero had a restautant down there, will look that up cheers for that .

Best advice i was given was to get one of these tickets (I got the all loops one) for the open top bus.It takes you everywhere you need to go in New york, all the sites ground zero, little Italy, china town, empire state building, statue of liberty, etc ,etc. The buses all do loops around New york that overlap so you do one loop and get off where you want and then get on another bus doing another loop. The tickets like a bus pass that lasts a few days which saves your legs and expensive cab rides.Hope you enjoy it i loved it.

I love New York, would love to work there for a few years. Have a nice time mate. Oh, head down the village end there's all sorts of little restaurants, go for a beer in some of the philippe Starck hotels. The bars are AMAZING!!!
