Could it be a sticking wastegate?

hello stu.

My TT had the same problem a while back. The

wastegate actuators were wazzed. It did not

cost too much to sort it out, and what a

change it made after it was done!!

hello stu.

My TT had the same problem a while back.

The wastegate actuators were both wazzed.

It did not cost too much to sort out and made

a hell of a change when it was fixed.

wasn't sure if that first post went!!!

Prey that it is not your knock sensor as it costs about 100-00 but is situated at the bottom of the engine (Stupid design fault)!!

If so it could be engine out.

You could gut the boost solenoids which are also a bitch to get at and then set up an AFR to bypass the problem. So it goes on and on and on. Cross your fingers guys.

It simply CANNOT be the knock sensor...if you have a faulty sensor, your car WILL BE in safe boost mode....

If your car detects detonation, your car WILL BE in safe boost mode....UNTIL you stop the engine, and restart it...

A problem with the det sensor may explain why you go Full Boost -> Safe boost....but NOT the other way around

Thanks guys so do we reckon the sticking wastegate is the most likely culprit?

Someone suggested it might be a seized turbo but I don't see how the turbo pressure can increase when the turbo is seized?

No - definately not!

If you had a seized turbo then you would not get any boost and it would be very noticeable
