CarlZ
The AIV runs the idle emissions, and helps keep the cats running cooler and working more efficiantly, removing it wont affect performance but it may cause you to fail mot on emissions though. Same with removing the carbon canister wont effect performance apart from saving a little weight, all it does is trap petrol fumes that go back into the intake by vacuum when the engine is running. But most carbon canisters dont work to their full extent anyway due to age. So basicaly no real benifit removing them apart from making a bit of space, and losing a bit of weight.
