he he me aswell lol.

I think this is it.the end of the forum, unless of course we start paying.

There was confusion between Nominet and the ISp about the billing contact for the domain, and i have been chasing this problem since last October !!!

I have been telling both comapnies for a while now that this might happen if they dont get it sorted.. and look what happened....

Aha - I thought it was just me. Is this what is screwing around with pics sometimes appearing and sometimes not?

Craig - anything we can do to help?

Same with me Martin, I thought they had banned me aswell! LOL

Craig if you lose that Domain Name that will be it for 300zx.co.uk! We will end up something similar to the 200sx boyos and have a name like 300zxoc.net or something similar!!! Bummer!

I personally think it's about time we all coughed up a fiver each and a) get proper hosting sorted out and b) better BB software! Just my opinion but clock is a ticking everyone.

Imagine no more forum and having to fall back to the shite that was Bravenet??? Your worst nightmare come true! Argggghhhhhhhhh

Took me time to find the site, it was only when I took a look at the 200sx forum, it had the new web site address.

I guess it will take time for the other boys to find this new site address

the ISP are on the case, and i think it is being sorted.

i dont think i will be losing it wink.gif well... it might be nice... lol

okay, hosting ideas, while we are on it..

have a look at http://www.dedicated-servers.co.uk/raq.shtml and see what i have been thinking of going for. solves the hardware/hosting/bandwidth all in one.

entry level, at 75/month

i will be going to the bank this week to open a new account, and i will then work out how we can fund it properly.

12 ? 15 ? 20 ? 25 ? how much per year do you think is fair and reasonable?

i will also need to purchase a proper licence of VBB, which is 150 quid or something i think

i will need to work out a renewal notice or something.

i plan to restrict the forsale/wanted forum, and a members only forum as subscribed members only to post

should also be able to sort email addresses of username@300zx.co.uk at last too biggrin.gif

but, we will need to keep an eye on transfer, as they charge 2p/MB over 5G (which soon adds up, believe me) and the money for this will come from the subcriptions too.

at least it is a good start towards a proper setup biggrin.gif

feedback ??????

Mad for it! wink.gif

You already know my feelings Craig and most of us in IT should read that and see improvement all round!

I think £20 is reasonable for a year subscription, if we have at least 200 regular members this should cover your costs I think.

Mark need you to mail me bud, got to get going on the coolers.

cheers

Wazza just sent you an email my man

Craig,

Seems like a good idea to me. Lets get that upload file size limited to a sensible amount again ! biggrin.gif

Could possibly have a word with Mike Groves. He hosts my site and might want to do you a special deal. He's been a great help to me.

For people having trouble connecting you can try fudging this through your hosts file. I did it on my XP machine and it seems to be working. You will need add an entry like :-

195.224.53.251 www.300zx.co.uk

and the file is in windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts (or it is in XP and I think W2K and NT anyway)

It should be ok now, I did an nslookup from work this morning and it resolved OK!

You may have it cached. I just tried with our internal servers and it doesn't work.

Just tried with BT servers and it doesn't work (big surprise!)

DNS does take sometime to propogate though.

Take a look at

http://www.powaspark.co.uk/

I've just signed up with them but haven't tested things out just yet but the prices are unbelievably cheap for Cobalt Raq based stuff.

Unlimited web space and 4GB bandwidth PA for £199 PA

Additional bandwidth charged at 2.5p per MB

I currently use www.highspeedhostinggroup.co.uk for www.mkivsupra.net/bbs . The guy who runs it owns a Supra and so he has given me unlimited space and unlimited bandwidth, he probably wont do the same deal for you guys but Craig, if you contact them, ask for Matt and say I sent you they might be able to do a good deal.

Im currently pushing 6gb of bandwidth each month which wouldnt be cheap if I had to buy it all.

Nice one John,

Craig, just say you own a MarkIV Soop and bingo - deals done.

Best I can do at the moment is £99 a month with £150 setup guys, although that is with 50gig of bandwidth,

I can set you up an account like andys for gratis but that isn't a dedicated server,

I'd pay £25 per year.
